Car won't start when cold . . . i need to use starter fluid to start it . . . any suggetions?

1. Do not use starter fluid on a glow plug diesel engine. (explosive)
2. Most likely 1 or more of your glow plugs is out. They are not too expensive and are fairly easy to change. Facing the engine, look on the right side. There is a set of "plugs" with hoses, and a set of "plugs" with wires. You want to change the set of plugs with wires.

1983 Chevy Silverado, Glow plug light will not come on, Truck will turn over but not start, fuse panel has no blown fuses, I suspect the Glow Plug Relat but I don't know how to verify it is bad.

With most relays, you have 4 wires. One is power to the component the relay controls, one is a ground to the relay magnet, one is power to the magnet, and the fourth goes to the component, in this case the glow plugs. The ground usually comes from the computer.
With the key on you should have power to two terminals and you would jumper the hot terminal to the glow plug terminal. Or use a test light or meter to check for power on the glow plug circuit.

I would put new glow plugs in it, and check the cold start injection system.

Could a faulty coolant temp sensor make the glow plugs run all the time on a 1983 Mercedes 300CD?

No the glow plugs circuit is separate. They actually are on a timed delay shut off. Check the glow plug relay module behind the driver side headlamp assembly. If the light on the cluster is staying on all the time it's simply letting you know there is a fault in the glow plug circuit. Doesn't actually mean that the glow plugs are staying on all the time. You might just have a bad glow plug which is breaking the circuit therefor the glow plug light stays on. To check this use a test light and have someone turn on and off the ignition to see which plug doesn't light up.

there is a vacuum line that goes to injection pump it is the fuel cut vacuum solonoid look around for the tube and put it back on there if thats not it then you will have to trace the vacuum supplie from the vac. pump to the injection pump and repair/replace whatever is neede.the hose/tube gets knocked off easily during an oil change

Indicators not working on mercedes benz 200 1983 model

If you indeed check and veify the fuses are good than you need to check the relay(s) that control the system. These should all be located in the power box located drivers side firewall under the hood (Black cover). You may need to reference your manual for the relative position of the affected componenets (Fuse, Relay, etc...)

that caused because one or more of the electrec fuses are burned its not expensive you can change them by ur self open the hood on the right corner theres a box with big screw remove them and u will see a group of fuses change the one that damaged it differ from other and if u didnt know wich one theres a map for each fuse inside the box
u can buy the fuses from any car parts shop
