I have the 1.6 and telephoned the Ford Dealership and provided the registration number. They came straight back to me and advised the recommended mileage before the belt requires changing. Personally, to be on the safe side I change it upon purchase because of the different driving techniques between two drivers.

Zx2 ran fine for a bit after timing belt change, now no start.

suspect the timing belt tension was to low and has jumped a few teeth initially(run rough) and then jumped further or stripped teeth(will not start at all).
check timing belt position setup....
if its 1-2 teeth out of timing you could put a new belt on with engine correctly setup.
.if its completely wrong the your engine will have internal damage(valves bent and pistons dented)

try the internet web sites for belt ,there are 2 types dependent on engine ,if you thinking of changing timing belt you will nee to order a special timing kit ,to hold crank and fly wheel ,i have changed one o a 2.5 crd engine ,takes about 7 hours ,the other 2 belts are easy to replace ,just remove air filter housing ,jack engine up remove engine mount ,pulley wheel for belt can be seen ,need a spanner to hold nut on pulley wheel, pull it up to remove,ac belt is stretch fit ,so just pull it over ,using a screw driver .hope this helps you .

Yes, all Subaru vehicles have timing belts. Be sure to replace your timing belt at the required intervals. Timing belt replacement is crucial to the life of your engine. Interference type engines can suffer expensive damage in the case of timing belt failure. Bent valves are not cheap to replace.----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Its Engine is 2.o L (120.5) DOHC MFI 16-valve4 -cyl inline engine. It has 90,000 miles on it. When I bought it, it had 89,000 miles. Should I change the timing belt for this...

Most manufactures recommend changing the Timing belt at around 60,000 miles or 7 years. The have been known to last a lot longer than that but it is cheaper to have it replaced than to risk critical and expensive engine damage if it breaks.

BMW recommends that the timing belt be changed every second Inspection ii, or every 4 years on cars that have low mileage. Most of the rest of the industry has timing belt changing intervals ranging from 40,000 miles to 60,000 miles. It is better to change the belt at a lower mileage than at a higher number.
The timing belt must be replaced every time the belt tensioner is loosened. Do not reinstall a used belt. Reusing a timing belt, even one with low mileage, is not worth the chance of having a belt break and damaging the engine.

Good luck.

How to replace timing belt in 2001 santa fe. What

That depends on if the front motor mount is blocking half of the timing belt . Then you have to have the motor lifted out to change the timing belt . Now that just added at least another 2 hours to the labour hours. In all honesty, now you are looking at a 4 to 6 hours of total work . Now , do you know if it is a timing belt or a timing chain. Timing belt, yes will take about 4 to 6 hours , but a timing chain will take over 8 hours because it is inside the motor.
