Question about 2010 Toyota Avalon

1 Answer

I can't find the oil filter on my Boss's Avalon so it is setting in our main hanger at the small airport that I work at. I have drained the old oil out but I am baffled by where the oil filter is located.

It's in a cast aluminum container on the bottom of the engine toward the front passenger side,you will see a square hole. The filter is inside, it is a cartridge type filter. Filters are at your toyota dealer and come with 2 "O" rings, an adapter to drain oil from the housing, plus directions.

How do I remove the oil pan on a 1998 Toyota Avalon?

Jack your car first , Open the oil drain plug and let the oil drain, start to remove the bolts around the oil pan , take it off and If you are not willing to change the pan then wash it really good and scrap the old gasket with a blade or sand paper.

To put it back, use new gasket and silicon sealant around the oil pan and make sure to put it back as it was and make sure everything is sealed because you dont wanna have an oil leak after you get done. Good luck Bro

How to change engine oil and oil filter

Drain the oil out the bottom of the oil pan there is a plug its just a bolt be careful not to drain the tranmission fluid. after all oil is drained put plug back in. remove oil filter (probably goin to need oil filter wrench). put new oil filter in place of the old one put small amount of oil on the gasket on new oil filter this will help make it easier to remove next time. if you can fill new filter up with oil before installing this will prevent dry starting. fill motor with recomended oil type and amount. you can go to any auto parts store they will set you up with everything you need an tell you the correct amounts. They even sell dvds now that will give you step by step instructions if you need further help.

Driving home from work I started to smell and see smoke in cab

If you have recently changed or had the oil changed I would suspect a bad filter or the old oil filter gasket still on the filter boss and a new filter with an additional gasket installed on top of the old gasket. Usually in a short time the old filter gasket will blow out causing a massive oil leak. To locate the leak fill the engine back to the full mark with oil and start it and look for the leak.

How do you change the oil on an 03 Avalon without getting oil everywhere while removing the filter?

Loosen the filter a little first then slip a plastic bag over it. Remove the filter being careful to keep the bag around the filter and under the connection to let the oil drain in the bag. Oh and drain the oil first before removing the filter.

you have a plugged tube use a coat hanger to fish it threw the air filter side of the ac unit and run it all the way threw till you see the wire, if you can't find the cabin air filter it is located under the dash and you will see a small rubber tube that goes to the outside of the car.

HOW MUCH OIL INCLUDING OIL FILTER CHANGE FOR A 2002 TOYOTA AVALON

Hi there;

It takes 5 quarts, I usualy put in 4.5 run it, let it set about 5mins, check it & then top it off as required. Sometimes a little more or less drains out depending on the conditions of the drain. You can use 5W30 or 10W30, if the temp is above 0'F all though 5w30 is prefered

Hope that helps.
