Question about 1997 Honda CR-V

1 Answer

On my 98 Honda CRV, the malfunction indicator lamp stays on. I had it checked and diaognistics indicated failing speedometer. Sure enough a week or so later the speedometer quit all together. Tech indicated that sensor is located inside trasmisison but trasmission is fine. Is there a way to repair speedometer without getting transmission job and/or turning off the malfunction indicator?

Not too hard to do, but make sure you get the part for the right year.
The explanation and images at this site are better than I could do, so I will just give you the link:

What is the warning symbol on a Honda crv shaped like an engine on the left hand side of the dashboard?

Hello,

The engine shaped light is your Malfunction Indicator Lamp (a.k.a. Check Engine Light). If this is lit, you can take it to any Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, and they will check your codes and tell you what they mean. You can also have them clear it to see if it comes back or not.

I hope this helps.

4th gear indicator light on dash board flashes, vehicle drive fine. and speedometer works off and on.

shift indicator flashing lamp is an indication that your transmission has issues, due to your speedometer not functioning properly the first guess is that your speed sensor is failing, but that is just a guess. first thing to do is to get your car computer system scanned for failure codes, there should be one for your transmission out put speed sensor, before changing any sensor make sure you test the sensor to verify its failure. get codes and re-post with results if any more help needed

I have a honda crv 2011, the rear marker lights were out. To troubleshoot the issue, I pulled all of the fuses one by one in the fuse box under the hood and under the dash and found a broken fuse. Replaced...

You will probably need a scanner or code reader to erase the fault you introduced by removing the fuses.

Next time use a test lamp to check your fuses.

We have a 2005 Honda crv. Malfunction indicator

Hello Michael.
While your fuel cap may still be an issue there are many other items that may be at fault. It's possible the fuel cap tightening is a coincidence and something else is causing the problem.
There are a few hundred possibilities that could turn on your MIL.
First thing that needs to be done is verify what the code is that turns on the light. If you are in the USA Autozone will give you a free scan to start you off. Then you can begin to home in on the problem.
Best of the festive season to you.

You need to get the codes from the computer to know where to look. This could be a simple O2 Sensor and on this model vehicle the ECM will go into fail safe mode that will let you drive it to a service location for repair. The stored code will tell you which it is and what you need to look at for a repair.

Check your CAPS LOCK as that may be the problem.

The "D"[drive] light flashing whilst driving 2003 CRV

your transmission may be low in fluid
s should have been checked when you went in for a service
have it checked by a different mechanic
a lot of mechanics forget or just dont check the level in it
you may be bale to check it your self
look in the servicing you car part in your owners manual
there is a dip stick in your motor bay just like checking your oil
however
most cars have to be checked with in the first 5 seconds of the car running
just check what it says in the owners manual about "maintenance" and follow what it says
let me know if this helps
