SOURCE: fuel filter
The fuel filter is on the driver side frame rail, it is round, bigger than a coke can, it takes special tools to release the lines, they are an internal spring clip. You can buy the release tools cheap at any FULL SERVICE parts store like NAPA, CAR QUEST

SOURCE: replacing fuel filter
There is a special tool that is required to take off the filter. You can
purchase the tool at your local auto parts store. There is a metal one
or you can buy a set of plastic ones that are supposed to work better.
It is very difficult to change as the
line sometimes gets dust or dirt in it making
it really hard to get the tool in .

Best thing to do is go to a transmission shop with a tech 2 scanner and have them scan the truck and do a transmission line pressure test. Your lock up clutch could be slipping and you may get a few more years by having your transmission line pressure raised. The tech 2 should be able to do this so you don't have the drop the transmission. It's not a permanent fix, it's just going to give you a few more years before your lock up converter clutch gives way. Good luck and hope this helps saves you some money before you have to replace the worn parts.
