Question about 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Mercedes E200 Kompressor which worked very well since I owned it 8 years ago, until just today. Usually, when the electronic key was inserted into the slot, there was used to be a "shuuuk" sound before I could turn the key and ignite the engine. However, there was absolutely no response and "shuuk" sound when I inserted the key today and I therefore couldn't start my car and have to tow my car away from blocking the road. It seems the key slot couldn't detect the electronic key. ( I have then changed the battery in the key and it still didn't work). Grateful if anyone knows what's the problem with my car ? Is it a problem with the key ?, or anything wrong with the ignition system ? What diagnosis should I try first ? (Since my car is of some age, I really don't want to spend a big buck on it.) Thanks in advance.

I lost the keys of my mercedes benz e200 kompressor, the car is locked, there are no dealers in my area, so my question is there any way to unlock it? is there any way to order another keys?

so from what I hear, you only get 3 re-key attempts, before the computer needs to be changed, If you bought this car new, or have had it serviced by MB you might be able to order a key.
Check with your local locksmiths and ask if the are able to cut or recommend a smith that can deal with this cars key. the trick is to never lose the keys. Mercedes EIS Replacement

I have a merc 200 kompressor,2001. The brake pedal keeps releasing some gas sound until I press it.What could be the issue? Just today, the brake pedal became very stiff and at some point it momentarily...

HI! Tony, it sounds like the seal on the brake booster is leaking vacuum that is most likely the noise you can hear, it is very likely that the brake booster is faulty & will need to be replaced sooner than later as you can't be too careful when it comes to the brakes......hope this helps.......cheers.

My 2003 mercedes kompressor C200 key is not working!

the key's are special order and they are fairly expensive. Test the voltage in your remote batteries. They should be 3 volts. These systems are very voltage senstive and require a good battery to operate properly. I'm assuming you have the original batteries in the remote now and it is 6 plus years old. These batteries generally last 3 years so it is definatly time if you have not replaced them yet!

Trouble with key, need replacement?

Have you tried lubricating the locks?
Usually a Graphite or Teflon based lube will make the locks work much better.
Failing that, a lock smith could probibly get you a new key.
