Question about 2004 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

I was driving on the interstate when my 2004 Sentra just shut down. I tried to start it back up. but nothing. I waited about 15-20 minutes, and then it started right up. It took 2 hours to drive 55 miles because it would shut down every 10 miles or so. I would wait 10 to 15 minutes, and it would then start right up. "Service engine soon" light is on. Can you help?

Does the car have a normal oil level on the dipstick? The behavior is consistent with a broken timing belt except for the part about the temperature gauge going to the top which would indicate overheating or a faulty gauge.

you may need headgasket. nissan has a fuel pressure regulator kit, but that is for "long cranking" issue, where it takes about 5 seconds or more of cranking, before the car starts. the problem is leaking regulator, which results in loss of fuel pressure from the system, after you shut the car off. What you describing is a condition, where coolant enters cylinders after you shut the car off, resultin in the coolant flooding your plugs.

I have a 2004 NISSAN SENTRA SE R SPEC V (Nismo), my car sputters

You have 2 Problems, First problem batteries dying you have to make sure connections secure and alternator is charging your batteries (go to an Autozone or Discount advanced they will tell you). The Sputtering is either a bad SPARK PLUG or a damaged Cable going to the spark plug..Change them every 2 years.

Car dies while driving

It could be something as simple as a bad or loose ground wire but the hard part is finding it.
