Hi and bear (or bare?) with me, I don't know much about cars. I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I've had a problem with it randomly turning the headlights on and off. Like, very random, like.. when it's parked in the driveway at 4:30 in the morning. I just now watched it go on for a couple of minutes and then off and then on again, who knows how many times. It also happens when I'm driving in the daytime. Anyone heard of this before? Not sure if it has anything to do with the automatic feature for the headlights. Any ideas what the problem could be or what I should do? (I guess it could be as simple as turning off the auto headlights, but I'm not sure). Thanks in advance for any info!
There are two things that can be happening, 1 the wire that grounds the circuit for the lights is loose and randomly touches setting off the lights. Or as perviously suggested the headlight switch may have a damaged connection with in it. I would try turning your headlights on and off, seeing if the switch does what it is told each time. If it does, check under your hood for any loose or hanging wires

It needs a new headlight(or multifunction) switch, or you can just not use the automatic setting.

We have a 1999 Jeep Laredo and it does the same thing. I was just now sitting on the front porch and the head lamps came on then went off and back on again. Will tinker under the hood and check wires.
