Could be a defective oil pump.that ticking noise might be the lifters not getting oil up to them .

There is a ticking noise from standard vw golf engine,

It would not hurt to check it but the loss of oil and the loss of coolant are worrying. I would have a compression test done to check the head gasket and head. The tick may be compression gas escaping at the gasket. That would also account for coolant loss. Have a pressure test done on the cooling system to check for leaks. Towing a trailer ( I guess that it had a bit in it) over a long distance at speed ( probably 60 mph or better) places strain on a good engine but if the engine is on par or below then faults appear

it may be ticking because the oil is low. check the level. if its been driven for a long time with low oil you may have done some damage that needs repair.

I have a 100 series landruiser which is making a bad ticking type noise on start up ,it sounds like it is coming from the water pump or the air con compressor but not really sure.It stops making noise...

try this, when you change the engine oil and use a flushing oil before you finally fill with 10/40 semi synthetic, add stp/wynns oil additive or molyslip. the ticking is possibly a sticky cam follower(they are self adjusting with oil pressure)the water pump/air con comp cannot "tick"but they can squeel.....

Getting ready to purchase 2002 chrysler sebring. Took it for a 15 mile test drive and the oil light kept flashing and the car made a ticking noise the whole time. Any ideas? It has 102,000 miles.

Recommendation... Do Not purchase an 02 chrysler sebring! While it is a cute car and looks nice, they have consistently been rated as one of the worst vehicles based on expense of shop repairs, and also rated one of the worst vehicles for amount of time spent in shops. The oil light flashing is a sign that the car should not be driven due to not enough oil in the vehicle, any owner who overlooks that light, especially when trying to sell it, has obviously not taken very good care of it, therefor another reason.. NOT to by a chrysler sebring.

Oil pump is not working getting a noise in the engine when i start it also getting a stop engine light flashing

If your oil pump is not working then your engine is not getting lubricated. It will lock up if you run the car when this is doing that which is why the 'Stop engine light' is flashing. Check the oil to make sure you aren't way low but don't drive it until you figure it out or your engine will be toast.

Good Luck

1999 jeep cherokee se 2.5 / 4 cyl / 4x4 flashing oil light

If the engine is not making any ticking noises while light is on, it's likely that the oil pressure sending unit is going bad. Generally, it's located near the oil filter, but every time I tell someone a location, I'm wrong. (can't remember everything) It's not hard to find and anyone at a decent parts house can point it out to you.
good luck also check that the wire going to it is not chafed and shorting to block!

Engine light flashing

Whens the last time you checked the oil or had it changed, should probably check this first. If it's low add to the line(probably real low) and get the oil changed asap.
