Replace it at 100,000 miles. This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks you will have engine damage.

the owners manual say 60K, is it safe to wait until 100K? Thanks.

  • NOT ME Jan 05, 2011

No do not wait. My information from Gates says 100,000 but if your owner's manual says 60,000 then by all means change it at 60,000. You do not want to take any chances on it breaking and causing serious engine damage.

SOURCE: when does the timing belt need to be replaced on

Normally the engine check light will come on (the light on the dash) when you see this your vehicle is ready to be serviced. Depending on the model there are specific time frames or milage set. Check your manual for details..

How often does the cam belt need changed

Look in your owners manual. Its either every 100,000km or 160,000km. There are some idler/tensioner bearings that should be changed at the same time.

Do i need to change my came belt on lancer 2006 1600cc

If by 'came belt' you mean 'cam belt' it is the same as 'timing belt'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timing_belt

It should be changed at 60000, 120000, 180000 miles and so on.
If you're late do it soon.
