Question about Ford Expedition

I have a number 2 misfire on a 5.4 ford expedition 2003 and the code won't go away. I've replaced the coil and the plugs, how long does it take the computer to relearn that it has a new part.

it may also be the fuel injector. A code reader can reset the CEL. If you are not in a hurry, just run the vehicle until the light goes out.

Have you cleared the code? it will not clear automatically. the computer simply stores a "recorded fault" and it keeps it until it is cleared. most parts houses will do it for free (autozone< advanced auto...)

Why does my 2006 5.4v8 expedition still not accelerating after fixing the engine code that shows bad coil number 6 even replaced plug ?

Need to replace All the spark plugs,All the coils
& All the oxygen sensors, clean the maf sensor

Usually with all the cylinder misfires from bad coils,
your exhaust converters are ruined

Po302 code also po316 code

Put the old coil back in #2 & walk the new one to another cylinder

PO Codes are wrong, as many times as correct on a ford

Forget the 316

Your best to look at fuel trim with a professional scan tool
& cylinder misfire counts in Mode #06 also

Those trucks have leaking injectors some times, but that isn't
the code your getting

Spark plugs can't be in there over 3 years

The front 2 oxygen sensors have to be replaced at 100,000 miles

Do those 2 items & then diagnose the misfire or walk the coils

98 Expedition 5.4 4x4, engine shudders after about 2 miles, replaced plugs and fuel filter. No engine light and no stored fault codes.

The misfire wont pend or code unless the misfire counter exceed 1400.It obviously seeking ground from the sparkplug boot, make it easy on yourself the COP (coil on plug) or the number under the heater hose that may have gotten water in there move that to the front and reinspect the sparkplug boot.

I have a 2003 Escape XLT that is misfiring with a code of p0316 and p 0306. What do i need to check or repair?

P0306 is cylinder 6 misfire..P0316 is misfire in the first 1000 revolutions. A proper tune up will probably take care of the code. This includes spark plugs. I have the Mercury Mariner equivelent engine and you will need to remove the upper intake plenum to replace the plugs. It is plastic so take extra care when removing and re installing. I did not have to use new gaskets. There is a "coil pack" on each spark plug so no wires to change. I would change the air and fuel filter also.

Misfire on number 6. changed spark plugs and coil, still reads misfire on number 6

What vehicle?

Spark plugs never misfire, by design, Wear yes, that stresses the
ignition modules

If you have a coil, that is for all cylinders, the others fire okey !

We need your year, engine, V6, V8, etc, to help

You never change parts to solve any issue
That is called wishing,hoping,pushing,poking,

What code # did you get PO306?

My 2003 ford expedition reads a code 0303= 3 cylinder misfire, which side of my vehicle would that be on and could replacing ignition coil and spark plug fix it and stop the lose of power and hesitation?

Third cylinder back on the passenger side. I'd recommend changing all 8 coils and spark plugs. These coils don't last long, and once one goes, more will fail soon after. This job also requires removing the fuel rail to gain access to the coil and plugs. I personally have the same SUV and went through the same issue!!

Why is my 1997 expedition showing a misfire on number 2 cylinder OBD code PO302. Also I am getting code readings PO174 andPO171 system to lean on Bank 1and 2

PO302 is being a misfire, could mean the plug is bad or the coil is bad for that cylinder. Which can give you the misfire reading and the system to lean codes. Check the #2 coil for firing.

Got misfire in cylinders 1 & 2 after tune-up

Could be bad coils, or someone switched the two wires if it has wires.

Missfire 2000 expidition

there isn't a trouble code that indicates a bad coil... there are misfire codes that can possibly lead to a plug, coil, fuel injector, low compression, or a number of other things. it is possible to have 2 more bad coils-if youve had the engine compartment detailed and they got them wet, that'll do it. other than that it is hard to see 2 coils going at 1 time. spark plugs themselves are more likely.
