On our aveo it has a lever just under the top of the stick shift. A ring if you will. Pull up on the ring then push up and to the right. Needless to say you have to have the clutch in. Sometimes you have to release the clutch then push it back in to disingauge the gears. Hope this helps.

Does the shifter not move? IF it does move.. try going a little above or below the R and see if it does... check the transmission fluid.. make sure it is a reddish color and doesnt smelled burned.. if in fact this is an automatic transmission.. other then that I would say push it backwards put it in drive and head to the transmission shop...
Good luck

Where is my block heater situated on 2004 chev aveo

Not all cars are equipped with a block heater...in fact the vast majority of cars aren't...If you have one it is in the engine blocks cooling jacket, or it may be in the radiator hose. If you can locate a 3 prong electrical plug on the front of your Aveo, follow the cord back to the engine and you'll see where it is.

if it is a stick then try shutting the car off, put it in reverse and then start it. if it works then the clutch is worn and should be replaced.

While passing another car on fairly steep upgrade at about 95 kilometers per hour, my 2004 chev aveo suddenly lost power. I was able to allow the other car to pass me and pull over to the roadside. I have...

Apparently the timing belt came off and caused considerable engine damage. On checking problems on internet this appears to be a not uncommon problem with this model.
