Bummer, lift the carpet and pad to properly dry the area. you will have mold and musty smell forever if not completely dry. ideally with a fan.

Look at sunroof drains, look at door drains and door seal. Look in trunk, look at back glass.

Front windshield is leaking above passenger side

so if i were you i would be checking drain plug or drain opening in front of wind shield. probably it is under plastic grill next to wipers. it transfers the collected rain water infront of windshield and direct it to ground. if it is clogged flooded water can drain into cabin.

Water on back seat floor

It could be caused by blocked sunroof drains. Thats where I'd look first.
Good luck!

Definitely problem with gaskets if there is no hole in the body of the car. You mentioned your rear lock then check the gasket around the lock.

Deep water in Drivers well from rain.

Look around the fresh air intake around the base of the windshield, where the body and wipers meet. The other thing to is to make sure the system is in the air recirculating position when parked to ensure the fresh air door is close so no or little water will enter through the air vents. This should not matter if you can get to the fresh air intake vent and clean out the drainage holes. Good luck and hope this helps, it's common for leaves and other dirt to collect there and can cause this problem you have.

My driver side foot well gets wet

If this only occurs during heavy rain you have a problem with the drains around the bulkhead. Alternatively the heater matrix could be leaking. Check to make sure you are not loosing coolant from the engine. If you find you are constantly topping up the coolant then heater matrix is suspect.

2003 passat sedan. water on floor and in heater fan

I don't think it has anything to do with the sunroof. I think you have a leak either around the windshield or under the cowl where the wipers are attached. If it's in the cowl area probably over the blower motor housing on the right and the water is following the vent system to the drivers side. Please let me know how you made out.

Thank you

Blower motor goes out every so often? Design flaw connected to the wiper motor???

could be that when it rains or is wet out that water is leaking into your car under the hood under the vent by the windshield wipers on the passenger side and instead of being filtered out its going into the car on the passenger side floor. (check to see if this is wet after a heavy rainfall) and causing a short and rusting it out. this happened with my 2002 grand prix just this year. I got a water resistor for like $3.50 from a local pontiac dealership/parts store and put it in. Its easy to install and it poured out today and my car didnt leak at all.
