That's a sign of a shorted circuit. voltage flowing freely and way too fast (amperage) somewhere it shouldn't. the amperage-rated fuse blows to stop the overflow. disconnect as many connectors as you can. start with all rear light sockets. install fuse. if it doesn't pop you've isolated the short as you've created an open (unplugged circuit). plug in one connector at a time untill the fuse pops. that's where the problem is. It's usually in that component (bulb, socket, connector, pigtail, etc), and replacing it solves the problem. but occasionally it's an actual wire touching metal. like when a wire wiggles and vibrates as it protrudes thru an opening in the harness and the edge cuts thru the wire's insulation and "grounds out."

Remove all of the rear lights and replace fuse. if ok, then replace each one and recheck after each one to see which one(s) are blowing the fuse. I suspect someone tapped the back of your car and one (or more) of your lights has pressure on the bulb fixture, causing this problem.

check the parking light fuse or taillight fuse to make sure it has not blown. replace it if it has blown and see if the lights work or if the fuse blows again. if it blows when you turn the lights on then you have a short circuit that needs repaired. if the fuses are good ,then most likely the headlight switch is bad not allowing the taillights or dash lights to work.

Tail lights and dash lights went out

The parking and tail lights are usually on the same fuse as the dash lights, so check the fuse located in the fuse panel under the dash to see if it is blown. If replacement fuse blows again then it could mean a bad tail light bulb or a wire in the wiring loom that is shorting to the body. Check globes first and then check wiring loom near light assemblies for any chafed or bare wires.

My dash board lights and tail light went out fuses are good no power to tail light fuses ? help

It could be that your brake light switch, located right behind the upper part of your brake peddle, has a short or is no good anymore. Check the wires for cracks, breaks or exposure also

Both my back breaks and dash board lights went out.

The dash lights and back tail lights are on the same fuse. It should be located at the fuse block.

96 dodge ram 2500 tail lights and instrument panel lights quit working at the same time all other lights work help please!!!

Check your tail light fuse, on the dodge ram the dash lights and tail lights use the same fuse so if the tail light fuse blows your dash lights will go out to alert you of no tail lights.

98 jeep tj, dash light/taillights/licence plate light don't work

disconnect head lights, and replace fuse. Then turn the light back on to see if it blow a fuse again. if not, plug on light in at a time. You might have a bad headlight???? then unplug that one if nothing happens. Then plug the other one in. It could also be a bad taillight bulb. I have had bad tail light bulbs. Do all of them, one at a time.

Dashboard and tail lights out on 97" Nissan Sentra

I took my pathfinder to U-HAUL and asked them to check the towing lights. There was a pinched wire by my tail light and they cut it and changed it out for me, it was $5. I am so glad that I didnt take it to Nissan. My second step was going to be getting a new dimmer switch..but the guy who worked on my car said that wouldnt be the problem. He also told me that replacing a fuse that kept blowing out was dangerous and after the first time to get it checked out. Learn something new every day!!
