Late model cars usually have the fuel pumps in the fuel tank which means that you have to remove the tank to be able to remove the fuel pump
They are electric

on the mustangs i have the switch in just inside the rear hatch on the right side a yellow button you may have to remove a small cover to see it

on the 97 neon u have to drop the tank its on the back passenger side of the tank just undo the straps and lower the tank and the pump will unscrew from the tank if the tanks plastic
