Question about 2002 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I just replaced my factory stereo in my 2002 honda accord. i have two red wires left over that appear to be my dash lights. i dont know where to connect these two wires to make the dash lights come on when the head lights are turned on. if i connect one of the wires to either of the power wires the dash lights stay on all the time. if i connect the other red wire to either of the power wires my lights that tell me what gear im in go out. WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE TWO WIRES? Thanks so much Kevin

I have no idea about the wire that puts out gear position lights. But the one that makes dash be on constantly, is the memory wire for radio. You do need continuous power for radio to remember stored radio stations, audio adjustments and last source selected. Most aftermarket radios have two power cables, red and yellow, one is switched, meaning that it only gets power when vehicle is turned on, and the other one gets electricity constantly.

Gauge cluster lights won;t light - replaced cluster, dimmer switch - did put new stereo in car? Fuses, bulbs all good. What could be the problem?

When you put the stereo in, what did you do with the red wire with a green stripe? The aftermarket radios don't always use these, so you have to wrap the ends, depending on whether or not you used a wiring harness. If that wire is shorted on the chassis, it will blow the dimmer fuse.

Well, You shouldn't have cut the old wires. This means you now have to Buy a new factory harness. both, the male and female ends.

Dash board light wont go on because factory stereo got removed

the cruise control has an ECU(electrocic control unit) which enables the car to keep moving considering the load and speed and slops too...so i don't think it should get disturbed by the stereo.. but anyway if it was doing so then you did gud. while your buzzer doesn't work then get the electrical circuits checked and also check if while taking out stereo the sockets were loosened.. :)
