The diagram pictured looks totally different then my tranny. On mine there is a sensor behind dipstick tube, one oil line on top and one on bottom, one sensor below and to right of shofter linkage.

The van has 1, 2, and drive so i am assuming it is a three speed.

There is a sensor on the tranny where the passenger side axle comes out. Could this be it?

Location of speed sensor on transmission 1997 gr caravan 3.3 engine

The input speed sensor is right below where the cooler lines are clamped the the transmission. The output speed sensor looks exactly the same as the input and is located to the right ( as you standing in front of the vehicle) of the input speed sensor.

Transmission input output speed sensors

The speed sensor is on the tailshaft of the transmission,on the passenger side of the car,it has 3 wires. The output sensors are located on the front of the transmission about mid-way up the housing & only have 2 wires. Note the output sensors are not responsible for vehicle speed. Only the output shaft speed is recorded. They are for finding the correct cvi(clutch volume index) only. If you have a cvi issue, the transmission is toast.

Transmission

It more than likely will. The Caravan/Voyager/Town and country came with two common transmissions, the 3 speed (the dash indicator has just the 3 speeds) and the 4 speed (the D gear has an O around it to indicate overdrive). The 3.0 was commonly paired with the 3 speed.

Transmission input speed sensor location

It is located on the front of the transmission. you will see 2 of them one on the left under small transmission lines it is the input then to the right behind the radiator overflow there is the other one. Easiest way to change them is with a 1" deep well socket
