one of your sensors is out on your ABS system. What will work until you want to fix it is to pull the fuses for the abs( the one from under the hood) and theres one you can pull from the fuse box on the left side on the dashboard. you will not have abs braking but the petal will not get hard and unless you drive in snow its not a ploblem driving without ABS
if this issue is at low speed roughly five to ten mph it is a sign of a bad wheel bearing as the abs speed sensor reads off of a tone ring attached to the front bearings, when the bearing gets too much play it causes the sensor to receive an eratic signal making the on board computer activate the abs thinking the vehicle is sliding
I have a 1998 Range Rover
HSE. The ABS, TC amd Brake light stay on and now I have noticed that it
is becoming harder and harder to stop. It literally feels like I dont
have any brakes at all. I have to pretty much push the brake petal all
the eay down in order to get it to stop. I had the pads and rotors about
6 months ago and I don't know what to do! Help please
This is very common of Hondas if the front rotors have been turned(machined)off of the car or if an inferior quality rotor has been installed. Replace the front rotors and brake pads. This should cure your issue. Let me know if you need any instructions or diagrams.
The problem could be that the rotors could be warped. Have them checked and they could be possibly shaved a little in order to take away the vibration.
It sounds like the calipers have seized after being pushed back to allow for the new pads. Take ot the new pads press the brake pedle slowly to release the caliper(just enough so it's released almost to full , then push back with your finghr and thumb) one side at a time, coat with copper slip and do the same on the other side. Rgarding the abs, make sure the new pads have the correct electrical connections to complete the abs circut, if not you will have to buy new ones that do. Hope that works
you have a abs fault considering the year I of the van I would remove abs fuse or unplug the moduale to disaable it. the humming that you are hearing is the abs dumping pressure due to a false reading from one of the sensors or the moduale if you want to spend the money to make the abs work you will have to take it to a shop and have them hook up a computer to retreive the codes to diagnois the problem. keep in mind that with the abs dissabled the wheels will lock up when braking hard or slick roads let me know how you make out
you may need to go to the dealer to get the abs pump bleed properly this can be quite a ***** with out the right equipment if there is air in the abs pump you will have no end of problems
