SOURCE: need to change manual transmission fluid

It does'nt have to be OEM Jeep oil.
As long as the viscosity is the same you will not have a problem.

SOURCE: need to change manual transmission fluid

pull the lower plug from the transmission, it will be on the bottom or the side on the bottom. replace the plug after draining and remove the fill plug wich is about half way up the side of the transmission. use 75w 90 gear oil in the trans.
good luck

SOURCE: Steering gear fluid capacity and type of manual trasmission fluid?

Hello Dave,
I own a 1988 Ram 50 5-Standard and will go off my own experiences to answer this question.
I use a synthetic 80W transmission fluid.
If you know what is/was already in there; my recommendation is not to change the grade of oil in the transmission unless it is necessary because of driving conditions or vechicle requirements (i.e. towing/hauling/efficiency).
Anyway the Ram 50 Manual 4 & 5 Speed transmissions take a range of fluid grades from 70W-90W. You can use this in both conventional and synthetic oils.

For the power steering, universal power steering fluid works the best, and I honestly don't know the exact amount to put in Ram 50, but may I suggest you purchase ~20oz. Fill it half with half the bottle, then check the dipstick, then put in half of that half-bottle (a quarter of the bottle in), check, and repeat until you get it to the appropriate level.

As hard as it was for me to believe it, Dodge uses Mopart ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid in its Manual transmissions. I just read it in the owner’s manual and I’m still shaking my head.

Have a 1984 dodge pickup. When first starting it moves really slow.Once it's warmed up it shifts just fine.Any solutions?

check transmission fluid level, and color, may just be low,if brown,or black you can try changing fluid, and filter(,if it isn't to far gone) if the fluid is red,or pink, check level, and add if needed.
hope this helps

Why wont my 1984 d150 dodge prospector pickup idle when in gear? i put it in gear to backup and it wont idle. please help me..

The problem is a restriction in the transmission oil cooler causing back pressure in the system and partialy applying the torque converter clutch. The real issue is what is restricting the cooler. Most of the time the problem is the lining from the converter clutch has separated and is plugging the system.Unless you have recently had the transmission rebuilt I would guess you are about too.Good Luck!

Had new battery, carburetor, and fuel pump installed in my dodge aries 84, and still it wont start, why?

Have you checked that you have spark at the sparkplugs? Have you checked if the fuel is indeed reaching the carburetor? Have you checked if the choke is activated when you try to start it? If no find out why and fix it. Does the engine starts when you pour a small amount of lighter fluid directly in the carburetor? If yes then the carburetor is badly adjusted - fix that.
