Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

My 2004 Envoy was rear ended and the damage is minimal. However the other driver is paying for the bumper to be replaced and repainted. We'd like to do the work ourselves and have found the bumper on line, but i would like to know how to find the paint to match on line too.

There are lots of companies that do this. See this site, for example: http://www.expresspaint.com/?gclid=CLyilaOJxKQCFcR05QodugT9iw

You have to get the color code off your car to order. It's usually on the driver's door label, but if not the site has info on where to find the color code on your car. Is this what you were asking?

How to take a spare tire off gmc envoy 2004

Since the spare is mounted under the rear of the car, Its not easy...you have to assemble the long crank rod out of its two pieces, then feed the rod through the hole in the top of the rear bumper and lock it into the mechanism that holds the tire in place. Once the crank rod is locked in, lower the tire towards the ground. Once the tire is low enough, you can crawl under the car and release the tire from its mount. The hardest part is locking the crank rod into the spare tire mechanism through the hole in the bumper.

The back end is lower than the front end, like the shocks are broken, maybe something about an air shock?

Looks like it.
Go to each corner of the car, press it down as much as you can and let go quickly. The corner should bounce up a little, down a little and then stay at the mid point - that is a 1.5 bounce. If the car is bouncing more 1.5 times or doesn't bounce at all, then the shock at that corner is bad and need to be replaced.

Shocks don't have a valve for the driver to fill with air. They need to be replaced with new ones.

Based on what you describes, the back corners will not press down and of coarse will not bounce - a definite shocks problem that need to be replaced.

The plastic bumper covers are dented. I would like to replace tghem with parts from a salvage tard.

Another good source of secondhand bumpers is a spoiler shop, might even find one the same colour if you're lucky.

I would like to remove the rear bumper of my 2002 Chevy Suburban

It's not hard with exsepton to the condition of the bolts, the easiest way is remove the bumper with brackets and bumper together. I would get new bolts for replacement.

If you are in the Detroit area, I could probably recommend a shop. Lots of salvage yards in the area. Probably can get bumper with color of your car. Good luck.

2004 GMC ENVOY XUV, spare tire system stopped working

The tools are under the second row seats. The hole for the spare tire lowering mech. is above the rear bumper when you lift the tail gate. Put the proper tool down the hole, turn counter clockwise, lowers spare. Reverse to bring up.
