Are you talking about heating fan resistor! if so, this is where and how its replaced. it is behind glove box. remove glove box so you do not have to stand on your head, only about 7 or 8 screws. then loosen and slide ecm to one side. ( but when removing glove box, remove insulator panel under glove box first ) now you can see heater blower and resistor. it is beside the fan, remove the wires from it. take out holddown screws, then pull it out. have a good holiday!!

2001 Chevy Malibu is getting hot before the fans come on.Had blown head gasket.Replaced that and the fan motor.Of course when the a/c is on the fans come on.Turn it off, they stay on but otherwise the car...

on my 2000 malibu 3.1, the fans come on at about 220 and go off at 210. tempurature should read about a line past the half mark. if hotter then this, check coolant level to be sure its ok. and there are no leaks in system. good-day! you might want to check the coolant temperature sensor. Also, there is a relay for the fan in the fuse box. engine is not considered over heating unless it gets to the red line portion of guage about 250 degrees. the fans work for a/c so it must be the coolant sensor thats not turning fans on when it gets hot.

2000 malibu blower wont run on hi will run on 1-4 what could be my problem?

usually its the fan resistor causing this. it is located behind glove box on top of heater box, beside the fan. the resistor has differant size wires for differant fan speeds. if a wire in resistor is bad. that fan speed will fail. when fixing, the best way is to remove glove box so you dont have to stand on your head to work on it. have a good day !!

I need to find the coolant fan sensor on a 2000 chevrolet malibu.

It doesnt have a fan sensor per say. It uses a coolant temp sensor which is located in the lower intake manifold which relays temp to computer which controls relay circuit to fans.

2000 Chevy Malibu blower motor doesn't work on positions 1 & 2. Would appreciate details on how to fix or change it.

remove dash insulator from under glove box. then move bcm to one side, fan resistor is beside the fan blower motor. the resistor will keep fan speeds from working. remove wiring and screws from resistor then take it out.

2000 chev malibu cooing fan want turn on

Either the relay is shot, or the sensor is bad. As new as it is, I don't believe the fan motor would be bad.

Inoperable endine cooling fans

The fans on your car should come on at 232 degrees, and when the A/C is on for a few minutes. You can swap the fan relay with another from your fuse box that is the same for testing. The most common problem is the ECT (engine coolant temprature) sensor. It is under the throttle body where the upper radiator hose goes into the intake. It is a 2 wire sensor that will be brass and black plastic. That car has another sensor for the gauge. Good Luck
