SOURCE: thermostat location

On a GM six clinder it is in the housing that the upper radiator hose is hooked on the upper intake. It is very difficult to remove with the exhaust cross over pipe in the way but is possible with some time.

follow the upper rad. hose from the rad. to the other end. It should be under the throttle body. I'm a certified Master Tec and these are not easy to do.

Replaced water pump and its still getting hot 1999 pontiac grand am

Thermostat is stuck closed or your electric fan is not cutting on.I would replace the thermostat first and if it still overheats then the coolant temperature sensor is more than likely why the fan is not cutting on.

Where is the thermostat located in 1999 pontiac grand am

The thermostat is in a housing right below the throttle body, it's easier to change if you remove the throttle body first. Kind of a pain in the **** job, you may want to leave this one to a shop if you don't have a lot of experience.

2003 pontiac grand am where is thermostat located

If you have the 3.4 V6, the thermostat is under the throttle body. Just follow the upper radiator hose to the engine where it connects. Where the hose connect's to on the engine is the thermostat housing and the thermostat is under it. If you have small hands, you can remove the housing with a socket, u joint extension. If you have to remove the heat shield to the exhaust pipe, If it's still to tight for you. Your going to have to also remove the throttle body to get to the thermostat housing and remember to buy a new throttle body gasket. Good luck and hope this helps.
