Sounds like you have a leak in the coolin glines or compressor. Bring it to a shop for a full diagnostic.

My 2004 mercury monterey A/C works I just don't know why it keeps turning off on me and from blowing cold air


That is most often caused by an insufficient R134a refrigerant charge in the system. Many times, recharging will restore the AC to working order again. Since the AC is a closed system, if you have a low charge, that means the is a leak in the system. Depending on the size of the leak, you may be able to go the entire cooling season (or more) after recharging; conversely - if the leak is large, you may only get a day of cooling out of it.

Having the system checked for leaks and repaired will end the cycle of discharge / recharge. If you attempt to recharge it yourself, be very careful with working with any refrigerant as it can cause instant frostbite when allowed to come into contact with exposed skin or eyes.

Battery drain

bad cell inside battery,so it won;t hold the charge,if battery checked OK,it might be a bad bridge (three diode inside alternator,change AC to DC) in your alternator

Ac blowing warm

you can buy a special dye to put in with the refrigerant to see where leaks are. next time it discharges, i would go thru all the a/c connections and replace all the o- rings. nice and cheap to start

Not getting cold added three cans coolant no different

My question to you would be are you adding "coolant" to your engine (anti freeze or water) or are you adding freon to your A/C (tip off was the 'three cans').

If you are adding engine coolant, - that is a lot, 'three cans' - and your engine is still over heating, you should get your system evaluated by a pro.

Working on automotive AC is dangerous for the amateur. For starters, amateurs (like me) usually don't have the equipment required to properly evaluate the status of the charge in a automotive AC system. Over charging a charged system is dangerous to you and the equipment just as is operating a undercharged system. Normally, systems are able to protect themselves from operating under charged. Normally, the reverse is not true. Fortunately, we can only 'force' in so much freon.

You have done what you can at this point. It still doesn't work. It is time to go to a professional. It would appear there is a leak somewhere, a leak that you cannot detect, nor repair. Three cans of freon went some where! Your professional AC service man or woman has the equipment to detect leaks, evacuate the system in an environmentally safe manner, repair the leak, if any, effect any other repair that may be required, inject the proper amount of 'sealer' and AC lubricating oil, change the 'drier' and recharge your system to factory specification. At the end of this service, your AC will be in tip-top condition and probably remain there for years. Best of all, you will not accidently injure yourself or your equiment using this process.

I have a 2003 chevy Pickup 1500 5.3. When I start the car the air is cold. I drive a few blocks then it blows warm air. What coluld the problem be

low charge or too high of a charge.
the low side should read 25 to45 psi at idle.
But, if the a/c behaves this way, there might be a restriction in the orifice tube near the firewall

The ac compressor runs and cools properly when temp is cool,but on warmer days it will run then kick out and will not kick back in for several hours later.All pressures are good...the freon charge is...

What year is the vehicle ? The A/C button on the control panel is a direct input to the PCM /ECM - engine computer . The PCM/ECM energizes the compressor clutch relay to engage the compressor .
