Question about 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
You need to gain access thru the hatch door, once you get it open, click on the following link to disassembly the door panel and access the fastening nuts that hold the exterior door handle, remove and inspect it. Usually the piece that holds the actuating rod breaks, if there is room to drill a hole and reinsert the rod, do it, otherwise, replace the handle. Most autoparts stores have OEM replacements that are only a fraction of the ones sold at the dealer.
