SOURCE: im in the process of wiring an air horn to my 2008

check your ground and clean it , also check your power source you may have 12v but not enough amps to make it work if you are using the standard horn power trying to run an airhorn motor may not be enough but most likely would be a ground problem

could be you might check it out. many items take the same relay so you might try exchanging it with another one with the same numbers. If that isn't it you may have a short in the horn itself.

SOURCE: how to wire a harry moss air horne relay to

If the compressor has 3 air connections on top then the two lower terminals with nuts are the + and - supply inputs to the compressor motor. The two top spade terminals power a solenoid valve which changes a triple sequence (illegal?) to a combined blended triple tone. I don't think polarity is an issue but to check this connect a 12V battery -ve to the mounting bracket on the compressor. Attach 2 wires to a headlamp bulb and connect one to battery +ve. Then touch the spare wire to each of the 4 terminals in turn. If the bulb lights that terminal is at compressor ground. You can determine the operation of the relay in the same way. Between 2 terminals the relay will operate. Note those and then test each to the relay bracket to see if one side of the coil is grounded. By powering the relay directly from the battery you can then use the bulb to determine which contacts are 'made' when the relay operates. You will need a relay to control power to the motor. The solenoid valve probably only takes a couple of amps. You could run both the motor and the solenoid valve from the same relay if you just wanted a blended composite tone.

SOURCE: 2003 dodge caravan airbag good

if you check the wire that comes from the horn button to the relay for voltage when the horn is pushed and have voltage then you have a bad relay,if not then you probably have bad contacts in the horn pad area or even the clock spring itself.

My horn is not working on 2011 camry. Fuses are good but I'm looking for the relay, where is it located?

i would first check the horn its self to do just go. cheap and easy to replace. remove the plug on the horn and check for voltage when the horn is pressed. if you have power the horn is gone. if you don't have power check it with another earthing point, if you have power then, take the battery earth off and follow the negative lead to the shell and remove the nut and clean up all the connections. if after the clean you still don't have an earth you have a brake in the wire. and would make an new earth using the original wire to the connector on the horn wire to a good earthing point to the shell.

No horn and no right hand turn signal bulb good, icannot find fuse to the horn ifound signal fuse it is good

Horn also uses a relay . What year , make , model vehicle. The odds of the fuse being the falt are high , Fuse's do blow , but not for no reason . Short's to ground cause fuse's to blow . Which means electrical wiring problems or short's in electrical componets . Do you know what a relay is an how it works ?

2007 Ford Explorer horn quit working?

suggest checking if 12 volts goes to horn wire at horn end when horn pressed from inside vehicle. A 12 Volt probe {google it} can be a cheap checking tool for this.
If 12v volts is switched when button is pressed {could be earth being switched if it is then place probe on constant 12 volts and negative lead on switched earth wire} then the horn itself is faulty.
If no voltage switched then horn relay needs to be checked. check if voltage at horn relay coil contact when button pressed.
if yes then relay may be faulty. if no then horn switch could be faulty.
you can check switched voltage also at horn relay switched contact when relay plugged in. To see if relay is doing what it is meant to do

How to check horn. Do I remove the covering on the steering wheel or is it in the engine compartment.

Switch is in the steering wheel. The horn itself is in the engine compartment to one side of the radiator, between the radiator and front grill. Usually on the drivers side.

More likely to be the horn that is faulty as it is in a pretty hostile place with water and salt spray. Test it by putting a wire from the battery to the horn contact. The one to earth will cause a spark, the other one should make it sound.

Hyundai x2 Horn will not stop blowing

First check for faulty horn relay. If OK then check Horn pad, it is an earth switch and may be dammaged. Remove horn pad and check for wire off and contacting to earth or short to earth . If problem still exists with horn pad removed then the wire from horn relay to steering column is earthing out

I just took a long trip, parked my car then in about 20 minutes the horn just started to go off any Ideas

  • remove the fuse for the horn, or disconnect the negative terminal on your car and then pull the live wire from the back of your horn which is located behind your grill - looks like a snail shell. good luck.

Horn , power windows and sunroof all stoped working on 2007 changed horn fuse and as soon as i used the horn the fuse blew again

This wold indicate that you have a shorted horn circuit. Generally, the horn circuit has a negative contact at the steering wheel, meaning when you push the button, it grounds (-) the sysem causing the relay out in the engine compartment area to provide 12V (+) directly to the horn. If nothing else causes the fuse to blow, the pwr window/sunroof., then either the relay itself is shorting out or a wire to the horn is grounding, or you have a bad horn. (spend a few fuses & save time, unplug the relay, replace the fuse & press the horn button & see if the fuse blows. Next, plug in the relay & do the same for the horn)

Generally it won't be the wire from the horn button or the horn would be working continually. Your owners manual should tell you where the relay is & you could see if you notice any unusual appearance to the case, as well as following the wiring from there to the horn, to see if any damage is apparent. IE: if the horn is located in the front grill area or near a opening in the fenderwell, does it appear a rock or something has hit it or any wiring causing damage. With a vehicle as new as yours, if it isn't obvious damage, I would suspect the relay. good luck

No brake lights or horn both on samefuse but fuses ok

There may be a wire off the horn but this is no problem as they are only push on clips so if you locate the horn and check there are no wires off, if there is this should be your problem i would also advize just changing the fuse anyway making sure it is the right amp.
