SOURCE: ignition switch on a 2002 chevy trailblazer

under the steering column, there are three or four little holes in the plastic covering. If you look inside, one of them (the one on the right side toward the dash) there is a brass pin inside. This is the pin to release the key. As far as the key not turning, I have had the same problem. The first time I replaced the ignition switch and that solved the problem. However, this makes no sense because the ignition switch has nothing to do with the tumbler being locked. GMC thinks that my anti theft system, which is inside the ignition cylinder is the problem. By removing the ignition switch, it reset the pass lock anti-theft system and temporarily fixed the problem. So, try removing the ignition switch and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, your in the same boat as I am, and we may both need new ignition cylinders.

SOURCE: Want to remove the ignition lock cylinder since a broken key is stuck inside.

get a phillipshead un do about 4 screws from underneath plastic cover which hides steering colume. remove cover you will see white plug on the left hand side of ignition barrel disconect.then right hand side there will be acable disconect.now get a small chissel and anti clockwise tap bolts which have no heads on them that are on top of steering colume when they are alittle bit lose use plyers its easier pull bolts out clamp will then come of and then you can pull whole ignition of. now there is 2 brass pins which hold barrel in ignition up near the key end remove and barrel will come out but it might be easier to take whole ignition to locksmith and get them to do it and get new key for around 30 bucks i did a mates about couple months ago seeya orangepeel.

In the fuse block under the drivers side rear seat check the ignition 0 fuse. In the under hood fuse block check the B/U fuse and the BTSI fuse. If the b/u fuse is blown than you would not have back up lamps.

The code says i am losing voltage to the transmission due to a failed inigtion switch. Are they talking about the key switch or some module if so were is it?

an "ignition switch" is generaly the switch which is activated by the key fob.

To Remove:
  1. Disable the SIR system by disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left insulator panel and knee bolster from under the instrument panel (I/P).
  3. Remove the trim covers from the steering column.
  4. Release the ignition lock cylinder locking tab by inserting an allen wrench into the hole on the top of the ignition lock cylinder housing and pushing down.
  5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the ignition lock cylinder housing.
  6. Disconnect the passlock and key buzzer from the ignition lock cylinder housing.
  7. Release the ignition switch tabs by inserting a J 42759 ignition switch connector release tool into the ignition lock cylinder housing.
  8. Remove the ignition switch from the ignition lock cylinder housing.
  9. Disconnect the ignition switch connector. .
when you install the new one, just make sure the ign switch is in the same position as the old one was before assembly :)

When i use the key fob to lock the doors the back glass dont lock, ???????

This solution applies to models:
2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Trailblazer EXT and Trailblazer SS
2004-2007 Buick Rainier
2002-2007 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL, and Envoy Denali
2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada
2005-2007 Saab 9-7x

Condition/Concern:
Rear liftgate glass will not lock when using the key fob or door switch unless the lock button is pressed a second time. All other doors will lock normally. This could be the result of the liftgate glass lock rod not adjusted correctly. This lock rod travels from the liftgate lock actuator to the glass release push-button cylinder.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Remove the inside rear liftgate trim panel. Disconnect the threaded lock rod clip at the end of the push-button glass release and rotate this clip 1 complete turn at a time making the lock rod longer. This will be the only threaded lock rod visible when the trim panel is removed and the liftgate is raised.
Note: For the rear glass to release, the rear liftgate latch must be in the closed position. For test purposes only, this latch can be made closed to make this lock rod adjustment.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Truck started and is running, but the key is locked in ignition

unplug the electrical connector to the igntion coil will make the car to quit running.
I think it's a mechanical problem with the ignition lock cylinder. it's required to remove the steering wheel to get to the igntion lock cylinder.
at least get the car to quit running so you can try to get the key to turn by keep on turning the key and move the shifter and tap the brake at the same time. hope it will get loose some how. good luck
