Question about 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
The stereo system in the car runs off a fiber optic ring in order to tell it what components are installed. If the fiber optic ring goes down and loses "ring lock" as they call it. It won't know that you have a cd player installed. For this to be checked or repaired it needs to hooked up to a Mercedes sds laptop. Some independent shop have the aftermarket version if they specialize in Mercedes Benz vehicles. It works the same as the dealership version.
