OK, first I would check the level. Then, I might check the pressure at the oil switch using a gauge. If it has pressure there, the oil sending switch may be bad.

Or, the viscosity of the oil may be too thin, or the oil filter may be clogged which would mean that changing the oil and filter may solve the problem.

How does the engine run? If it runs without making any knocking or abnormal sounds, then it may be a false low oil pressure reading.

I would try to get this issue fixed as soon as possible, though, as these things won't get better by themselves.

A bad oil pump will also cause this symptom of low oil pressure in which case the oil pump should be replaced.

Oil pressure light on l got oli in my car

If the light is on all the time (not just at idle), DON'T continue to drive it - you will trash the engine. Having oil in the crankcase is not enough, the oil needs to be pumped to all the bearings, etc in the engine. It's possible it's a bad oil pressure switch, but don't take a chance. Have it checked out.

Pontiac grand am I had a diagnostic reading at autozone for diagnostic codes po128,po440 and p1189 don't know what they mean for a 2003 Pontiac grand am gt 3.4 liter and v6 engine vehical

PO128 -- engine coolant low or thermostat not working
P0440 - EVAP system malfunction, gas cap loose - Cat convertors missing from car can cause this
P1189 - Engine Oil Pressure Switch Circuit -- CAT CONVERTORS MISSING FROM CAR can cause this.

Need to pass emissions and get service engine light off

ASSUMING YOU HAVE A 3.4L ENGINE, YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE EGR VALVE AND THE THROTTLE BODY. RUN A PIECE OF A HANGER THROUGH THE EGR PORT AND REMOVE THE CARBON PARTS THROUGH THE THROTTLE BODY.
