Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Am

Open Question

The CD Player in my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am doesn't play many CD's. Everytime i put in a CD it says Error and it spits the CD back out. I've tried many different kinds of CDs, and no luck. I just want to know what CDs do work in the car or how I can solve this problem for it to play CDs period.

Sorry - which ones? A/C heating or engine cooling fans?

Check fuses to make sure they're still ok. Remove the ones for the fans - and replace to clear any corrosion off them.

If it's the cooling fans at the front, these are controlled by a temperature switch which may be faulty.
Locate it , and measure the conductivity between contacts when cold - and when engine is very hot. The switch should close at around 90 degrees - 3/4 of the temperature gauge.

If the switch is ok, the relays controlling the fans are probably corroded.
Sometimes mounted on the fan housing - follow the fan motor wiring directly to them.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2004 pontiac grand am car will not start

the security light will flash and disable the fuel injectors preventing the car from starting, if it thinks that it is being stolen. its easy to fix. set the parking brake to turn off the automatic headlights. next turn the key to the on position and wait ten minutes. the security light should stop flashing. then turn the key off and this will reset the security system. it should start immediatly afterwards.

How to remove a stuck cd in cd player of 2004 pontiac grand prix

I've used my technician tweezers to get them out before, I'm unfamiliar with that particular model, but if you can see the disk is straight inside the opening level with the insert slot it should be do able. Just don't force anything to much, if the spindle is up in the player it might not be possible as the hole in the center of the cd would have the spindle to spin the disk inside it. As long as it's a clean shot to the disk it should be fine to turn key on and try the eject while pulling with tweezers. A couple of butter knives might even work if you can use them somewhat like chop sticks. Hope this helps.

When I place a CD in the tape player it spins then spits out. It never plays and I get the message ERR

This happens when you got a bad cd lens.

Try cleaning the lens or you take it to an auto shop where they have the required tools.

Good luck dear.

Thanks for using Fixya.

This happened to my 2004 as well just last month. It kept spitting the CD out and giving me the error message. I took it into the dealership and since it was under warranty still, they just replaced the whole radio system.
