Your anti-lock brake system is supposed to do exactly what it says.....keep your tires from locking up.So if everything is operating properly, then no, it will not leave huge skid marks.Yes however there will be very slight skid marks, every car takes a second to determine when to disengage the brakes, but you will not ever be seen sliding around a corner like a Dukes of Hazard brother.I hope I could help..Thanks, rate me accordingly.

2007 nissan altima 3.5 abs modual was making noise even when the car was off.Took the 3 fuses that are together for abs out,is it ok to drive

It's ok to drive but if you have to slam on your brakes expect the wheels to lock up and put the car into a skid. You may not stop in time to avoid a crash. Not a good idea.

What is anti-lock braking system on cars?

Anti-Lock Brake systems are all essentially the same they will prevent the driver form applying 100% Brake pressure and locking up the wheels while driving. The ratchet the pressure more slowly to prevent the car from skidding. Our first reaction in an emergency is to slam on the brakes and that is 90% of the time not the right action. So Anti-Lock brakes are designed to prevent this unwanted skid.

2006 chevrolet malibu find out my anti lock brakes had been cut none on front what do i do . does this mean i have brakes or what will a booster help this or what do i do please help

If you have no front brakes working, check master cylinder fluid level .If full replace master, if fluid low or empty check for broken line or leaking caliper..if your anti lock light is on but brakes are working ok your anti locks will not work but regular brakes will be ok. If this was helpful please leave good feed back.

My 2005 Altima is stuck in park. Automatic transmission, low miles starts right up and steering wheel is not locked. Help please!!!

http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/2005-2006-nissan-altima-se-r-discussion/225903-shift-lock.html

your owner's manual will tell you how to over-ride the shift lock. ususally there is a hole covered by a plastic piece, next to the shifter. pop out the cover and push the button to shift. The shifter will lock back up in park until you fix the problem. You may want to set the parking brake and use neutral when you park the car instead of " Park". That way you will not have to push the release button-it will eventually break.

make sure your brake lights work; as the shift lock is powered by the brake light fuse-replace as needed.

What does the abbreviation ABS mean on my Dash Board of a 1996 Nissan Frontier King Cab truck?

It stands for Anti-lock braking system, and the reason the ABS warning light is on is due to a problem with the ABS system

Sounds like your car is reporting a fault with the anti lock braking system. Sometimes this can be caused by a faulty sensor. Whilst the car still has brakes it could be that their anti -lock function is no longer working and this would compromise your brakes at the limit in an accident situation. To test, and in the process perhaps allow the sensor to reset, find a quiet stretch of road free of other road users, especially users behind you. Do an emergency stop from about 40mph by just stamping on the brakes as hard as you can. If the ABS is still working you will feel back through the foot pedal a shuddering sensation. If there is no shuddering and the wheels lock out and car skids to a stop then your abs unit and braking system need a look at. Check your brake fluid level and check your ABS sensors and cables for integrity. If everything looks OK but the fault still remains then take it to the shop for a complete diagnostic study.

remove one of the front wheels and look for a wire going to the front brakes or check your owners manual. I would bet that it has 4 wheel anti lock

2006 Altima won't shift into reverse or park

Is there any warning lights or malfunction besides this?? There are three main parts that may cause this: Park/Neutral safety switch(located on the transmission), Brake pedal switch(located at the brake pedal), Shift lock solenoid(located below the shifter). P/N safety switch prevents the shifter from shifting out of (P) or shifting into (R/P) while vehicle is in motion. Brake pedal switch sends a signal to release the shifter lock to shift out of park. Shift lock, locks the shifter as describe above and is located at the shifter base. I recommend inspection/replacement of the shift lock solenoid and P/N safety switch as its an intermitted problem. Hopefully this helps
