Question about Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

I have an '05 VW Golf Mk V 2.0 FSi petrol, that has developed a fault. All of a sudden, without warning the car loses power and then the engine cuts out. After restarting it's OK for a while then it does it again. There were no warning lights at first but after after several occurances the exhaust emmisions light came on and stayed on. I have taken it to Gilbert Lawson in Manchester today but they can not identify a fault. I have researched on the internet and have found a discussion forum with several very similar cases. Can you please help. Regards Ian

Sounds like you need to go to a muffler shop and have your Catalytic converter checked, could be the cause.

I have a vw golf mk 5 2.0 sdi, when engin starts, the whole engine shakes untill I drive the car. The after 3500 revs in some gears the car seams to ****!!

Check the VAG code. I had the same problem with my MK V 1.4 FSI. Let me guess when you rev it, it dusnt shake anymore?

It might be one of your cylinders are misfiring. And this might be faults with spark plugs, coil pack or the injector. You'll be lucky if it is the first two as they aren't much expensive to repair. It will cost you if it is the injectors.

Hi. i have a 2004 2.0 gt fsi and it sounds like a diesel

the FSI engine is a direct injection engine and they can be noisy particulaly on idle ,if you have no other issues like warning lights lack of power and its always been like it then i sugest it is the nature of the beast .this is not ******** i am a vw master tech and have had many a conversation with customers about noisy FSI engines.hope this puts your mind at rest, alternativly go to VW dealer and get them to take a listen to confirm its normal.cheers
