Question about Hyundai Elantra

I have a Hyundai Lantra '92 with a 1.5 4cyl manual engine.was going fine but now the car will turn over but wont start.I have done the following procedures and eliminated the following. FUEL-Car has petrol in tank and fuel pump is delivering petrol through system.Fuel is seen in carburettor when accelerator pump is depressed so fuel is not an issue STARTER MOTOR-Turns over with no problems ELECTRICAL-Started by taking out No.1 spark plug still attached to lead to see if spark would 'jump the gap'-NO SPARK VISIBLE. Then skipped 2,3,4 cylinders and seen if spark would come out of high tension lead from ignition coil to center of distributor cap.Got my brother to hold high tension lead(distributor end with other lead end in Ignition coil) and when I turned car over he should've got a shock-He didn't.I then did same procedure on my skyline and brother got a shock. Have eliminated Ignition coil as a factor.Got it tested at a workshop and was fine-No problems The only other factors i now have are the distributor,ballast resistor (small white box located by ignition coil) and ignition module (not too sure what or where it is,If its ignition where you put the key then thats fine,turns light on the dash on when key turned to ON',turns car over and headlights dimmer when they're on and key is turned on. If someone out there can help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.Could be something minor or major but I'm the type of person to diagnose things and fix myself and only in the worst of situations would I take to mechanic.I dont like the fact of paying a lot of money for something I could fix myself. I would start by eliminating the distributor.Normally the ignition control module will be built into the distributor.Replace the distributor and this should fix the no-spark condition. Make sure you mark the position of the rotor button before removal to ensure proper timing when installing the new one.Hope this helps you out,

Fancy getting brother to hold HT lead ,i havent stopped laughing yet and i have tears in my eyes ,try changing thte ignition module ,i think its inside the distributor on this ancient vehicle the white box is a radio capacitor i think .thats like me when i taught mechanics i sent this lad out to my transit DIESEL with a spark plug spanner to change the plugs ???

My hyundi lantra wont drive i put the drive shaft in and it wont move would it be because there is no oil in the manaul transmission

I'm not a mechanic guru but be sure, if you have no oil in transmission, your system is definitively damaged.
Fill the oil but, I guess, it's too late, damage is done.
If still won't move, tow it to your repair service, probablbly you'll have to spend some good money repairing it.

Hyundai lantra continues to stall as the clutch is depressed. and oil light turns on. i have no idea what is going on with it so any help would be muchly appreciated.

problem would seem to be in the running of engine ,when was it last serviced ,old plugs , air filter etc will affect engine idle speed which is why its stalling when dipping clutch

Either a weak battery or a defective starter. Have you checked your battery voltage when it will not crank? Cleaned your battery terminals?

Gear box dip stick location- hyundai lantra automatic

try the left side of the engine... gear oils smell are diffent from the engine oil and the viscosity... gear oils are thicker... u wont go wrong on this...

Hyundai lantra 1.6l v reg will start and drive but after driving for period maybe 5-10 miles car will cut out and not start again until left standing for 15-30 minutes engine will turn over but wont fire...

n then check ur coolent is working normaly or not,

n also the condition of ur engine oil, it might have exceeded the rating run.

n also check the spark pulg's whether they have worn out or not !!

Hyundai Lantra 1994

After some extensive research, it looks as though they have two totally different body styles as well as a few others. The differences are as follows:

Lantra: 1.5L
Elantra: 1.6L or 1.8L engine sizes

Lantra: 2,336 lbs
Elantra: 2,500lbs Weight

Lantra: 11.89 gal
Elantra: 13.7 gal fuel capacity

those are only three differences that i have put up among the many that i have found. Lantra's also seem to be one of those out of states type cars that you find in Australia mostly. The body is also totally different.

Ebay is your best bet, might also try craigslist, etc.  I know for most cars you can also get a shop manual on Ebay that will include details on maintenance for most if not all of the car.
