By just this limited information, It sounds like an evap problem. This system is what recycles the gas fumes back into the engine from the fuel system to be burnt. any more information about this concern? I would not drive it like that, Could be a potential fire hazard.

Smell fuel near carburetor in front.

The carb float chamber is vented to atmosphere and under certain conditions there will almost always be a fuel smell near the carb, especially for those with a developed sense of smell. Petrol is a liquid with highly volatile elements and in hot weather or a hot engine those elements will readily evaporate and then the vapours will drift where they will.

Any abnormally strong or stronger than usual fuel smell should be investigated and while most leaks will be easy to find with a cold engine and cold weather it is worth noting a tiny fuel leak can create a strong smell in mild or hot weather or with a hot engine and be virtually impossible to find.
It will probably be necessary to remove the air cleaner to check for carb flooding and it is also worth noting in the case of an engine driven fuel pump there is a possibility of a leak into the engine crankcase.

Why does the oil level on my Polaris Ranger increase?

If the oil level is going up then it's possible you have water getting into the oil, perhaps you have a blown head gasket. Have a compression test done immediately.

Sus bit pass smog strong gas smell and hesitating in first

Hi Lori.
Have you checked whether you do have a problem with your fuel Pressure regulator, which might allows the injection system to overfeed the injectors as a result to smell strongly of fuel? Also with a strong overfeeding and smelling fuel unburned, there is a possibility to blow your catalytic converter. Remove your spark plugs -if are new- just clean them and back on to see any difference.

Rough idle smell after stopped running

If you have a strong gasoline smell, get that car into a mechanic ASAP. Forget fooling around trying to discover the problem yourself. Gas explodes, right? You already have a strong smell. That means that somewhere down the fuel system line there is an active leak and that is dangerous. The fact you have to post here means you don't know anything about a car, so stop messing around with a potential lethal problem. I am an old alley mechanic from wayyyyy back and am speaking from experience.

Water not staying in radiator no sign of leaks in my 2000 bmw

does the car seem to run roughly? sounds like a possible head gasket or a cracked cylinder. is there an unusual amount of moisture coming out of the exhaust pipe, would smell like antifreeze gaseous sweet smell. a crack will fill either the top of a given cylinder but only when the engine is not running. head gasket will dump water into the oil giving it a milky look also will be prone to overheating

My car has a strong gas smell on the right side of my car. We jacked it up and noticed it was wet underneath the car. My gas miles have been good & it doesnt look like im loosing any gas quick it just...

don't know year make model but if you can smell gas and you see wetness underneath you should have it checked out. a small leak even though your not loosing much gas can be deadly especially if vehicle is in a garage or closed area cause the gas vapor is more of a problem than raw gas. there are lots of places that the leak could be coming from tank, lines, filter, evap system or the charcoal canister. much better to be safe than sorry, no need to have a major problem (possibly life threatening) develop over something that may be able to be fixed before hand.

This is an idea not a for sure. Bad or worn valves can cause what you describe. Had something similar happen to an 2004 Toyota. Due to bad lubrication, crazy huh?

Gas smell inside a car

I purchased a 93 Villager in 1999 and it developed a gasoline smell inside. The problem was the fuel filler hose / pipe that was covered by a manufacturer's recall. It was repaired by the Mercury dealer at no cost to me. You should contact the local Mercury dealer. This year Villager also had a problem with the crankshaft breaking, although they never had a recall for that problem, the crankshaft diameter was increased for the 94 and newer models.
