First try to see when the belt is off if any pulley has a slight drag to it.But its possible that the belt might not have enough tension.

Tensioner pulley broke

Need to get a new or used one for replacement. It's an easy fix. Also check your belt. You might need a new one. And before you put belt on, check all your pulleys that belt runs for proper (free-wheeling) operation. If another pulley froze up, it could cause your tensioner to malfunction.

I have 1996 Kia Sephia. When the air conditioner is on, the power steering doesn't work about half of the time and the car makes a squealing noise when turning, starting, and sometimes when idling....

Loose belt-tighten or worn idler pulley bearings.Tighten belts first and if the squeel is still there remove belt and check all pulley bearings.Grab the pulley by hand and give it a wriggle-there shouldn't be any play axially

Hello. I am having constant problems with my 1997 chevy cavalier serpentine belt. My old wrecked belt was working fine but when it started wearing too thin i got a new one. As soon as the new one was put...

has anyone checked the tensioner and pulley.th etensioner should operate smooth and without any side play. if the belt is too long, the tensioner will not be able to pull out the "slack" in the belt. the tensioner will have a mark of where it should be with the correct length belt on it.

Squealing noise

check all pulleys. and also, check the air conditioner compressor. it may need to be serviced. the compressor can make a squealing noise at times if the bearings are bad. make sure the tension is correct as well.
