Question about Audi A4

1 Answer

Alright so i just bought a 2002 audi a4 1.8 turbo and the car has been great so far. about two weeks ago the check engine light came on and the code i got was for the water temp sensor. i knew that it had just been replaced by the dealer i bought it from along with the thermostat. i played with the wires leading to the sensor a little and then noticed the check engine light shut off so i didnt end up replacing the sensor. now that the wheather has gotten cooler and the need for heat has risen i have noticed that heat will only come from the defroster vent and it only gets warm once the car has finally reached its normal running temperature, which obviouslly takes a while getting to that point using the heater immediatley after starting the car. im not too familiar with german mechanics and im just wondering where to start to fix this problem before it gets too cold. thanks

A real europeon superior vehicle ,well its the same problem as a tank ,the heater matrix needs a good flush with garden hose as its dirty caused by no antifreeze ,its amazing how many people drain the stuff because they live in a warm climate like here in spain ,its also anticorrosion inhibitor .then you will have to work out why the vent flaps are not opening and it could be nothing more serious than a split vacumn hose .great cars these teutonic masterpieces and run forever if looked after ,remember this company developed the first twin jet engined fighter plane that could reach the flying stratasphere pressurised bombers at 38000ft and land refuel and take off again so like saab cars your vehicle has a throughbred history

2002 audi a41.8t please help...

something has been left disconnected. look at the back of the head (remove the plastic cover on top of the engine, just there for looks) and make sure everything is hooked up. if not you need to return to this mechanic and have him correct the issue.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T Check Engine light on

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

2002 audi a4 oil light issue

There are potentially two different problems here.
1. A fault with the actual oil pressure.
2. An electrical fault with the switching circuit.

If you are confident the problem is not with the oil pressure, disconnect the wiring from the switch for a period of time. If the light still comes on periodically the fault must be with the wiring circuit shorting to earth. There will be no fire hazard to this approach as the voltage will drop over dash lamp.

However if the problem is with the oil supply system, the danger with this approach is you are potentially unaware of a serious problem

Such as the oil filter collapsed or the oil pressure release spring could be jammed open/closed which would cause the engine to not have the correct operating pressure.

2002 AUDI A4 OIL LIGHT COMES ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

The code system too lean, is caused by the bank 1 02 sensor, as far as the oil light coming on with oil ok,I would say the oil sending unit. Have those checked or replaced. Without testing this and that, it's hard to say what's causing it.
