Question about 1989 Lincoln Mark VII

Open Question

I have an 89 Lincoln Mark 7 and it has has numerous electrical problems. My girlfriend replaced the battery cable and connected them incorrectly. Unfortunately she had already disconnected all of it before i got home and was able to see which wires were attached to what. But, as a result it fried the ground wire that attaches to the vehicle body as well as the terminals on the battery its self. I did purchase a new battery and battery cables, but need to know how to correctly put it on without causing any more issues. If you could help id appreciate it! thank you

SOURCE: lost my key to lincoln mark vii 89

Good morning! Un fortunately you are going to have to obtain a replacement key from dealer. They will need vin # and proof of ownership to be able to cut you a new key. In some cases car may need to be towed to dealer for this procedure so additional keys can be programmed at same time.Hope this info helps you!

1998 mark steering wheel electric adjustments dont work any direction..when i try to adjust i hear what sounds liki a motor trying to start but hangs up and does not run

it is a known issue with Mark VIII's, second generations-there are numerous posts on and tech articles covering this, and people who have them tend to disable working systems so that they don't break.

How do i replace the starter of a 1987 mazda rx7

The starter is mounted on the driver's side bottom of the engine.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support it safely with jackstands.

Starter mounting-1986-89 RX-7

  1. Disconnect the heavy battery cable from the terminal marked B on the starter solenoid (or magnetic switch on later models).
  2. Disconnect the thinner ignition switch wire from the terminal marked S on the solenoid/magnetic switch.
  3. On vehicles with automatic transmissions, remove the front starter motor bracket bolts and the bracket. Remove the two starter attaching bolts and remove the starter.
To install:
  1. Support the starter by and hand and position it onto the flywheel housing. Install the two mounting bolts. On 1986-89 RX-7s, torque the bolts to 24-33 ft. lbs. (33-45 Nm). Install the front starter bracket, if removed.
  2. Connect the starter wiring to the appropriate solenoid or switch terminals. On 1986-89 models, torque the B terminal (battery cable) nut to 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm).
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

I have a 1981 lincoln mark VI 5.0 engine i just

The positive battery cable goes from the battery to one side of solenoid.(big nut). The cable that goes to the starter connects to the other side of solenoid.(big nut). Sticking out the front of the solenoid there is 1 or 2 smaller terminals. There should be a single wire (approx. 14ga or 16ga) that breaks out of the harness near the solenoid that has a black "L" shaped "push" on connector on it. Push that connector onto the small terminal on the solenoid marked "S". Hope this helps. Good luck.
