Cold weather affects it because the resistance in the doorlock-motor windings increases to the point not enough voltage gets through to be able to open the latch! Replacing the doorlock is the only sure fix in this case as they're not serviceable!

Double lock doors

You can “double lock” your doors by turning your key all the way to the right from the drivers side door and all the way left from the passenger side door.

Central locking does not work on my BMW 320D SE model

hi

there is a motor placed inside the doors for the operation of the central lockin system. when you open the door by key this motos is activated and all door locks are released. your problem may because of this motor is failed.

cause of the failure
1.the wire going to the motor may be chopped off.
2.the junction box connecting the wires may be damaged.
3.fuse may be blown out.
4.motor itsef damaged.

so please check weather power is coming to the motor using multi meter. if the power is not coming to it then the problem is with the wires. if the power is coming to it then problem is with the motor.

i suggest you to take to BMW because you need to remove the door pannel its better if they do it.

please vote me if my answer was useful to you.

I have 1991 bmw 535 central locking not working, how to open the doors?

Using the key in the door lock should open the doors even if the central locking does not work. There is a deadbolt system in the doors (set by using the key) that makes it difficult to get in. You probably have not used this though.
