Question about 1991 Chevrolet S-10

91 chevy s-10 tail light short

Brake lights work, signals work, its just the tail lights that blow the fuse as soon as there is a good fuse in and i turn the lights on. i checked the wiring from the lights to the firewall and it all still has good plastic casing around the bundle of wires. i thought i might be able to look in the fusebox itself for a short maybe?

You certainly have a short somewhere, and tracking down shorts are not ever easy. I would check the dash switch itself, especially if it was working fine before and nothing else was done.

1996 chevy 4 door blazer, i have tail lights, headlights, reverse lights and blinkers but i dont have hazards or brake lights and tried a new fuse and keeps blowing it as soon as u step on the brake

you may have to trace the wiring from the fuse all the way to the brake light globe to see if the wire has a short circuit to the body of the car.

1994 dodge dakota brake light ground location

The ground wiring on newer vehicles is a little complicated. Older cars, the ground would have been to the body around the tail-lights, but these have a ground wire in the harness and is connected to the turn-signal switch, and other sources. I don't think you have a ground problem. Does the fuse blow as soon as you press it into the fuse-block, or when you step on the brake? I believe you have a dead short somewhere, possibly a pinched turn-signal wire close to the tail-light assembly. Brake lights work through the turn-signal wires from the turn-signal switch on the steering column. That's how you can have one side blinking for turn while the other side stays on for brake. I'm kind of shooting in the dark here because I don't know what all you've done. If you replaced the turn-signal switch in the steering column, you may have pinched a wire or something there. Another thing, if the fuse doesn't blow as soon as you press it in, will both turn-signals work as long as you don't press on the brake? If you can provide a little more information, I might be able to help you more. One last thing....Have you replaced tail-light/turn-signal bulbs? If so, be sure you used the right bulb. You should only have two bulbs, one for back-up lights and one 1157-type combination for tail-lights and turn-signals. I have seen people use a single contact (1056) bulb in place of a 1157, which creates a short from brake/turn-signal back into the tail-light circuit. I do have a 1994 Dodge Dakota.

98 chevy silverado:

There is a short in the electrical circuit that is protected by the fuse. If this fuse protects the tail lamps then there is s short in the wireing from the fuse to the tail lamps, the insulation on the wires could be could be broken and shorting againt the bodywork.
If you cannot find the fault, the quickest solution is to rewire the faulty circuit and bypass the faulty wiring.
If you cannot DIY then you need an auto electrican to find the fault and fix the problem.

Fuse to tail lights keeps blowing as soon as I turn lights on can't find problem can you offer any assistance on this ? It's a 96 hilux

you need to remove all tail lights and front marker (not turn signal) lights. with all lights out of the system the fuse should not blow. If it does you have a short to ground in the light circut. If this is the problem a good multi meter would show which line is shorted to ground by checking for continuity between the center (power) terminal of each light and the ground. If this has a positive continuity test with all lamps removed and power off then that is the wire that has shorted out. If the fuse does not blow with all lamps removed then re insert them one at a time turn on the lights and see if the fuse blows. If one lamp blows the fuse then most likely there is a problem with the socket that holds that light
