2002 dodge caravan 4 cylinder. Recently replaced the radiator hoses and water pump, now vehicle is pushing fluid out the resivoir overflow spout. Causing the engine to overheat. What could cause this?

The problem is the coolant isn't circulation through the system. You are getting all the pressure on one side of system and the tank is the only place where the pressure can be released. Is the thermostat good? Is it installed correctly? Check for coolant in the radiator. After vehicle has been running but turned off feel the upper radiator hose is it under pressure and hot. Next feel the bottom hose is it under pressure and cooler than the upper hose. If the upper hose is not under pressure fix thermostat it's not working correctly. If lower hose is not under pressure something is wrong with the radiator

If you lay down beneath vehicle access to latch may be gained using a long needle nose plier to release latch between vehicle grille and radiator or tranny fluid cooler. Also might be accessed thru grille.

Install a radiator in 1998 buick skylark

Jack the vehicle up and then place a jack stand under the A-arm. Complete the same process on the passenger side of the vehicle. Jack the vehicle high enough to allow placement of at least a 3-gallon bucket under the radiator.
  • 2Locate the drain valve on the left hand side of the Skylark's radiator toward the bottom of the radiator. Place a 3 to 5-gallon bucket under the radiator in a manner that will allow the bucket to catch the fluid.
  • 3Turn the valve open with your fingers. If the valve will not open with your fingers use a small pair of pliers to open it. The further you open the valve the faster the fluid will drain.

Which direction do you turn the petcock to release the radiator fluid.? I tried this once and it broke off - very expensive! So when you're UPSIDE DOWN, LOOKING UPat the radiator - which direction

Doesn't matter if you're looking up at the petcock or down at it, it turns counterclockwise. You have to visualize looking straight on to the petcock as it fits into the radiator, and rotate the petcock counterclockwise relative to the stationary radiator.

I just hit some kind of animal it broke off my front guard on the right side by my radiator hose something is leaking looks like something is missing

You should have someone knowledgeable look at your vehicle. There are cooling lines for the transmission and oil coolers for the Power Steering in that area. If the part is leaking, look at whether the fluid is red or green or orange. The steering and trans fluid is red, the rest is coolant. Brake fluid is basically clear.

You don't want to lose any fluids and you should monitor the fluid levels depending on the color of the leak.

The Auto insurance appraiser would look under your vehicle. Or you could go to a Collision shop and they would check it out in the estimate process. Some of the underside parts could be replaced with Salvaged parts to cut costs. They do not show and it could absorb your deductible.

Where is the drain for the radiator located

look for radiator drain in underside of the radiator, look at radiator on both sides under neath the van. location will be on under side of the radiator, different models and makes makes it difficult to insure which side, driver, or passenger, just look for a release valve for radiator drain! jack it up,use a jack stand please! look on each side of the radiator for a pep **** valve, that can be turned to release the fluid to drain fluid. hope this helps and thank you for choosing

Radiator is leaking, on the drivers side of car. 2002 Chevy Avalanche, 4 wheel drive trcuk. One owner, 106000 miles on it.

    Removal & Installation To Remove:
To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is on or is still hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.
If the vehicle's coolant is low, drained out, or has repeatedly needed coolant or water added to the system, then the system should be completely flushed.
    1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
    2. Drain the cooling system.
    3. Remove or disconnect the following:
      • Inlet hose from the radiator
      • Radiator outlet hose from the radiator
      • Lower fan shroud
      • Surge tank hose
      • Vent inlet hose from the radiator
      • Surge tank hose
      • Engine oil cooler lines from the radiator
      • Transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator Remove the radiator chevy_sub25_02-04_rad_rem.gif

      • Radiator bolts
      • Radiator from the vehicle
    To Install:
    1. Install or connect the following:
      • Radiator to the vehicle
      • Radiator bolts and tighten the bolts, Torque to: 18 ft-lbs (25 Nm)
      • Engine oil cooler lines to the radiator
      • Transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator
      • Radiator vent inlet hose to the radiator
      • Lower fan shroud
      • Outlet hose to the radiator

    1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...

From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.
