Question about 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lmtd with a 4.7 L V8. When I make a turn to go around a corner or to go to a different street, my front end sounds like gears are grinding. When you go straight, it doesn't do anything or make any high pitched noises or anything like that. It's been doing this for over 2 years. Any idea as to what may be happening?

Sounds like a bad CV joint on one of the front axles.

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD V8 4-wheel and there is a "rattling" sound coming from area of the left front tire.

Is this the same problem you were having a year ago, or was that a bad tire ?
Usually a rattle is caused by something loose, such as a strut mount or a ball joint.

Service Engine light on, code is misfire..repaired 4 times, keeps happening, mechanic mystified never saw before...also "groans" going around corners/while turning, kept changing transmission...

Oh, if the car 'groans' around corners, many times this is a wheel bearing going out, not the transmission, especially if you had it rebuilt. One can check the wheel bearing for excessive play by jacking up the front end and wiggling the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions and 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions.

What did the technician replace for the misfire code?

Can i drive my jeep with no front drive shaft 2003 4.7l v8 quadra drive

I drove around for a good 2 months without my front shaft. Nothing bad happened. Don't be surprised if you get stuck on a wet leaf though!

You WILL NOT have park without the front shaft. You're rig will slowly roll if you are on the slightest incline, so carry around a brick or something to put behind/in front of your tire.

I need to know how to take off 4x4 on a 1997 grand cherokee?

If you remove the front drive shaft it will no longer have 4 wheel drive. I had a buddy who did it and he had no problems. It did awesome brake stands afterward.
