Question about 1990 Nissan Pulsar

1 Answer

I have a 1990 Auto Hatch back Nissan pulsar had a service for rego. The test came back with oil problems as the engine showed spots of oil leaks, they did a breath test and was amazed it wasn"t vavles or rings, finally the car was repaired and rego. But my engine is very hot when travelling only 7k's down the road I went back to the mechanic he check it.. he can't find nothing. Today for the first time I went 25k's then the temperture gauage started to show movement towards half way and a show of small spots of oil coming from the cap and another, enough to clearly see I was to worried to go any further and the engine is still very hot! HELP!

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention even the radiator, fan was check. No white smoke but the exhaust pipe end at the rear is a rusty colour. I have been looking at other cars exhaust pipe and they are grey or black. Thanks again

Hi! YOu may want to start checking on the radiator and cooling fan. The radiator could be clogged with dirt which can cause stress to the engine when hot. Be sure that the cooling fan blows strong air for this helps a lot in cooling the engine. Regarding the small spots of oil, Have you noticed a white smoke lately? If so, Its gonna be a piston ring or valve seal problem. Theres a possibility that the head has crack too but this will have a mixture of water to the oil. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

I need to replace plastic on the tail light of a 1990 pulsar hatch and cant see how to get the old one out, there seems to only be one screw holding it?

The fasteners may be behind the interior panel of the hatch. Take the one screw out, and if that doesn't release the light, then look for the interior fasteners.

Please help , where can i see the oil filter of nissan sedan 1990 pulsar on this car engine. i try to look around the engine i did not notice the oil filter. im tryin to put new engine oil and the oil...

Your oil filter is screwed onto a threaded tube coming out of the block (which is the lower part of the engine. Get you new filter and look under the engine you should see it clearly. It may not be the same color but it should be the same shape & size. It should unscrew counter clockwise, make sure the this rubber gasket comes off with the old filter. You can use any suitable tool to remove the old one but only put the new one on hand tight. Usually lubricating the gasket on the new filter is a good idea. Just use some engine oil. You car takes 3 3/4 quarts 5w30 oil after draining old oil & removing filter.
