Are the cooling fans coming on during normal operation? If your ac works turn it on and see if it overheats with ac on.If it does not overheat the fans are not operating properly under normal operating conditions. The ac will force the fans on. What you can do to start is just let the car idle in park and see if fans will come on normally. The coolant temp should reach 200-210 before the fans will come on. Make sure the air is off at this time. If we can verify the fans are working or not working properly we can go to the next step. Let me know what you find out.

Sounds like your engine fan or fans are not coming on. If you have two fans, one should come on when the a/c is on and the other should come on as needed.

1991 pontiac grand prix le 3.1l overheating

I had an older vehicle that overheated. I flushed out the radiator twice, but it was so clogged up, I had to replace it, so check the radiator. If you inspect the radiator from the filler neck, you can see if there is crud build-up on the tubes. The problem could be the water pump. Typically when water pumps fail, they start to leak from the weep hole(s) on top and /or bottom. Is there any leak from the pump? If there is, that is indication that the pump need to be replaced. Hope this helps !

I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4L DOHC....... The engine is over heating (yes it has coolant in it).... and I had noticed a leak in the coolant so we replaced the radiator (which had a hole in it)...

Maybe a backflushing of the cooling system can help to make it cool more efficiently.

Sediment can build up in the cooling system causing a lack of flow of coolant.

Also, the thermostat could be stuck closed, as others have suggested.

2004 Dodge Stratus 6 cyl 2.7L Overheating at idle

Try blowing the radiator core out with compressed air from the engine side to remove bugs and other debris. Make sure the fans turn freely with no noise and that they both come on when the engine heats up. Make sure the radiator cap has a good seal underneath. The three items at the end of your post are not likely. Check the radiator coolant level after it has run, then cooled off--it should be right at the top of the filler. If not, replace the hose going to the reservoir.

1. My grand prix gtp has problems with leaking on the passenger side. I cannot locate the leak. 2. My engine runs too hot when ideling. I changed the thermostat but this did not help. I need your assi

Make sure your cooling fans are coming on when the temp heats up. Are you talking about a leak inside the car or outside? Inside is usaully a drain tube for the A/C stopped up. Outside, look for a water pump or intake gasket.
