05 xterra front drivers side wheel clicking as truck slows to a stop. Clicking slows and is only audible under 10-15 mph. Goes away in 4wd. Tranny slips in 4wd low as well but the clicking noice disappears in 4wd high or low although tranny slips in 4wd low. (to engage 4wd low on auto-stop xterra, foot on brake, put in nuetral, then engage 4wd low)

2006 Xterra has clicking noise in front end when coasting. If you put it in 4wd it goes away. Put it back in 2wd and it's back again. I don't understand the first solution saying it's the ujoint in the front drive shaft. The front drive shaft should not spin while it's in 2wd. The front drive shaft should make noise in 4wd if it was spinning if that was the case right?

Had the same problem it was the u joints....if you get a vibration at higher speeds that will also be an indicater...on the 2005 exterras you have to replace the whole drive cshaft fortunatly min was under drive train warranty.

Drive shaft u-joint failure. most likely in the front drive shaft. Those are waranteed for 5years or 60k miles.

My 2001 xterra started making a weird sound between 20 and 35 mph. It sounds like there is a leak in some pressure system.

Common Car Noises and Their Likely Causes Noise More Details Likely Cause Fixing It Clicking noise while turning Starts faint, gradually becomes more noticeable until very loud Failed outer CV joint (constant velocity joint) due to torn boot (most likely) or old age Replace either the whole axle assembly (recommended) or the outer CV joint Water pump noises Difficult to diagnose because of water pump's location Noise usually caused by damage to the bearings in failed water pump Only cure is replacing it. If possible do it at the same time as a timing belt replacement to cut down on labor costs Squeak or squeal from an engine belt Loud, high-pitched squeak or squeal Belts either need adjustment or replacing If belts only squeak when damp, they probably just need adjustment. If they squeak constantly, they probably need to be replaced Exhaust heat shield noises Rattle that you hear when car is idling Damaged heat shield Replace heat shield

My 97 geo metro started making noise that resembles a high pitch hiss, and it only starts making the noise above 30-40 mph and when i slow down it keeps on making the noise. I tried to put in neutral as I...

Could be Transmission related. Have you checked the Fluid level?
Also have you changed anything recently like new tires? Its not uncommon for some tires like (Hankook for example) to make road noise?

Service engine soon indicator on and a buzzing/whining noise.

i recommend that you take it into auto-zone or a car shop asap. from what you have described the ticking as, it sounds like a bottom knock. as for the whine i don't know.

Engine makes noise when driving

Are you sure it is the engine. Try putting in neutral as you are slowing down. If the noise is still there then it sounds like a wheel bearing failing

Its a clicking noise when i get to my 2 gear

There are a number of things it can be. Full wheel hubcaps can click or get rocks in them. Stones in the tires or a nail. An out of round brake rotor (does the car vibrate when braking?). The rear emergency brakes are not self cleaning and build up debris.

If you have someone to gently rev the engine while in PARK, to about the speed of 20mph, you can hear if it is an engine noise. Or if you can coast at 20 to 30 mph with the engine in NEUTRAL, you can tell if it is a rolling noise or something in the powertrain. Have the window down to get maximum effect.

You have several things to check now. Let us know what you find.
