98 intrepid loss of radio, lock switch, mirror adjust

Had a battery recharged due to finding a dead battery (around a year old). Don't know why it died, but it could have been a simply mistake.

Everything works, starts, AC ok - just can't get the auto lock, mirror adjuster switch, or radio to work now.

The battery discharged on my 2001 Chrysler T&C. I replaced the battery & had my alternator checked. A week later the new battery was discharged again. I pulled off the ground plug from the battery & connected a light probe between the battery post and engine ground and the light came on. Then I pulled one fuse at a time at the fuse box located in the engine compartment until the light became very dim. I found that the 20 Amp IOD fuse was the culprit. I am now checking the electric door locks, dome lights & BCM module. I also noticed that increasing the Dim switch intensity also increases the battery drain current from 1 Amp to up to 5 Amps. So I disconnected the Dim switch on the drivers console but battery still draws 1 amp.

Look for a fuse in the interior fuse box marked iod or fuse 18 or 19(not sure which one) it may be blown.

Vijay, Number one: does it start with a jump? If so, then have the battery load tested. if it is good, look to replacing the starter.
If the battery is good after a recharge, and the load test is good, but it goes flat when parked- usually overnight- then it is the starter too.
Other than that, we get into open circuits, broken switches, etc. LOTSA troubleshooting on thise. Do the basics first, though. Usually you are golden with that. Let us know what your outcome is,

Sounds very much like two possibles a short in the fuse box to the non working parts or your battery went dead and was recharged and you did not reset these items. As what U mention all sound like the equipment that needs to be reset when you change a battery or it goes dead.

I have S40 volvo.the car won't start. There's no clicking noise. The alarm system stopped working also.the car is 5 years old w/90000 miles on it

Try jumping the vehicle but by pass the battery. Disconnect the Positive Terminal and when you connect the jumper cables connect the Negative cable to the Engine and the Positive to your Positive cable instead of the battery. If the vehicle turns over you know the battery is your problem. If it doesn't at least crank your either your motor is frozen, the starter is bad or you have a short on the positive cable.

YOur radio may have a lock on it for security. Have a look at your owners manual, it should let you know. Or just call the dealer to find out.
