Your catalytic converter maybe plugged stop by a place that installs mufflers and they be able to test it for you also give these websites a try and if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your van wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was running good but then all of a sudden it starts running rough. You can be driving down the road and all of a sudden it will die . It will run good for about 10-15...

It could be a dirty idle air control valve located on the throttle body but when you said it backfires after running a while and before stalling, this sounds like a clogged catalytic converter. When blocked they will cause the exhaust manifold to glow red igniting gasses on the exhaust stroke, backfiring. A clogged cat will result in a loss of power as if you are trying to pull a trailer full of rocks uphill.

Car stalling

Have you replaced the fuel filter? If so,have the fuel pressure checked to make sure it is up to specs.Have you looked at the air filter to see if it is clogged up with dirt? And also the converter in the exhaust could be stopped up.So many things ,to check, these are just a few things .

Exhaust smell and missfires or cuts out while driving

your egr valve needs to be checked - examine the wiring and vacuum lines also the biggest culprit that causes failure to the egr is carbon build up which clogs and or damages the valve this ill shut down [causing stalling] but it will get to point where you wont be able to start vehicle

Idles odd and seems like it wants to stall, but then when I put it in neutral its just fine. I've put in new plugs and wires and a new battery. I also ran some 'Gom-out fuel injector cleaner' through it...

4 main causes for rough idling as you describe:
  1. Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor (causes erratic idling)
  2. Bad EGR (Exhaust Gar Recirculation) valve
  3. Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) often will stall when engine is warm and in drive but not moving ie at a Stop sign.
  4. Clogged fuel injector
Best cause of action would be to go to one of the major Auto Parts chain stores that provide free diagnostic tests. The results would lead you to which part(s) is(are) defective.

The truck starts to bounce like its hitting the revlimiter at about 3500 rmps which is low it stalled for the first time while driving today and often seems like its its low idle

I had these same symptoms when I had a clogged catalytic converter. An exhaust shop will be able to determine if that is the problem very easily.

Backfiring, will not stay on. 94' cobra

first thing is check fuel pressure. or blow thru the fuel filter to see if its clogged. If the filter is OK you still need to check pressure.

Idle low

Low fuel pressure or clogged catalytic converter. Temporarily remove one of the O2 sensors and take it for a test drive. If the engine accelerates better then the exhaust is plugged (removing the sensor leaves a hole for the exhaust to escape) . Have the fuel pressure tested if it's not a plugged cat.. It could be a weak fuel pump.
