Question about 1995 Mitsubishi Diamante

1 Answer

My alternator keeps sucking life out of the battery. Have replaced both twice in 3 months. Everything will run fine for a while and then the dash lights go on and the car stops. Any clues?

Has anyone checked one simple thing like the tension on the belts. You will be surprised what a loose belt will do.

Alternator keeps going out

Have your battery checked before you put any more alternators in the car. If your battery has a dead cell or just needs replaced it could be making your alternators cover too much slack and burning them up.

i would try a radiator, when it does start, take the positive battery cable off the battery, if the car dies, its your alternator\

Problem with the battery on my van.

I am going to hazard a guess that you have a bad ground connection somewhere in the charging circuit . Check ALL your grounds on the body, engine and frame for looseness or corrosion. It may be intermittent depending on temp or vibration some double check everything twice. Bad grounds can do weird things sometimes.

You need to have an auto-electrician to check the electrical wiring. Probably, a grounded electrical wiring somewhere.
