It sounds like brake pads that have been replaced with aftermarket pads. The original pads had a wire built into the pad that grounded on the rotor and turned on a warning light when the pad was worn down. (I am a previous Peugeot technician.) I suggest you hae a brake inspection.

If it stops squeaking when engine running but car is still, then it sounds like it is your brake pads that need changing

My engine light has come on my Peugeot 106. Could it be that the breaks need doing? I was advised that they only just passed the mot test.

Brakes will not turn check engine light on, only computer monitored systems will do that. You will need to scan the vehicle to get a direction of the problem area

What does the peugeot 106 fault code 5574 mean?

hi Aidan, this code number is for the early OBD 1 pre 1996 vehicles , it is most probably the ignition coils, but to be sure follow this link to a peugeot forum, where someone will know the OBD 1 code list and give a definate diagnosis

My handbrake light has just come on and i dont know why. any knowledge on how many different reasons this could be? i just had a new passenger side cv joint fitted 1 week ago and the MOT passed 6 weeks...

Hi, The hand brake light coming on could be,
1 The switch at the handbrake lever could be faulty
2 This light also comes on if the brake fliud level is down ( or the level switch in the resivoir is faulty )
I hope i have been of some help to you.

02 Chevy avalanche 1500 need to know torque specs for intake manifold and if theres an tightening sequencing

the torque specs for your intake are the first pass to 44in/lb the second pass to 89in/lb. and the tightening sequence is as follows:
start on the passenger side (right side) the 3rd bolt (from front) is #1 then on the driver side (left side) 3rd bolt is #2 and 4th bolt is #3.Back to right side 2nd bolt is #4 and 4th bolt is #5. Left side 2nd bolt is #6 and 1st bolt is #7. Right side 5th bolt or rear most bolt is #8, left side rear bolt is #9. Then finish with right side 1st bolt is # 10.

Do that the first time at 44 in/lb then same thing over again at 89 in/lb

Freeze plug, head gasket, hose to the heater core. You have to get back there and look.

Theres a light come on my dash board an don't know what it is. it on left hand side on the dash board. its looks like the end of fire hydrant. its a peugeot 106 independence. 1991

Please you need to take the car for diagnosis because a couple of things can bring up/ turn up that light.

But this is not a great deal of problem but I recommend you get a scanner hooked up to the car.

Good luck.

Peugeot 106 1.5D. the clutch was slipping so new clutch fitted 2 weeks ago. It was still slipping so that garage replaced the clutch again. Guess what? It is still slipping. Any idea what is going on?

Yes clutch pedal should start to drive about 1inch off the floor and when driving keep your foot away from the pedal,/ also when new clutch is fitted did they fit a complete clutch assy /and did they surface grind the flywheel as if it was badly worn on the 1st one then the new one wouldent last very long.
as when the clutch starts to drive 1" from the floor clutch is good /when it engages right out its buggered and slips so ask about the f/wheel

Peugeot 106 independence brake lights

Ok man, i don't if that helps you, but when i tried it in my 1989 peugeot 205.
Try this: put on the hazzard lights and that will test some of the brake light circuit.
