Question about 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

2005 Grand Prix GTP has a click/ tick sound coming from the wheels at first acceleration and then again when first applying brakes. Not several clicks in a row, just a single "tick" each time. Best I can describe the sound is that it is very similiar to the tick you get when loosening a tight bolt if that helps at all.

Traction control light coming on on my 2005 pontiac grand prix gtp on first take off

No different than the last vehicle problem you had

Need to check for codes & diagnose the system with
the fault & find a problem & make the repairs

Trac Control is part of the ABS Braking System & may need professional tools, to get that modules codes,so save your time for free checking at the parts store, to be told nothing of value there

What does it mean when the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability System" and "Traction Control" warning lights come on?

You may have to have the harness replaced. Be sure the connector innards stay dry. When they get wet the contacts will oxidize and start shorting to each other and also the oxide is an insulator causing connections to open. Good Luck, I had a water problem with a Ford Flex and even though covered under warranty since I was the second owner they would not honor it. It cost me about three grand so price things out before getting it fixed, the car may not be worth the investment.

In my 2005 grand prix in the front end when i accelerate there is a clicking noise when i first accelerate. Any ideas of what could be causeing this?

if your wheels are torqued properly, and there is no corrosion between the mating surface of the rim / brake rotor, the noise is likely in the axle (constant velocity shaft). as it gets worn, these noises can begin to surface. there is absolutely no risk driving like this, there is no problem, just a little wear. the majority of replacement axles will make the same noise or worse. this is becoming a known issue on this model, but is not a cause for concern.

Abs and traction control lights coming on

Its the abs sensor, if you encounter an ice patch or snow you won't even be able to stop because the pedal will will push back and make the rip grind noise. If you pull the ABS fuse out, you won't have ABS but you can stop and you won't have the grind noise and back pressure for now. Its safer to not have ABS when the sensor is faulty.
