Remove negative battery cable. Jack up rear of car. Remove passenger side rear wheel. Loosen A/C compressor tension bolt. Remove A/C belt. Disconnect 2 wire plug and single wire bolted to back of alternator. Loosen alternator tension bolt. Remove alternator pivot bolt from up top of bracket. Wiggle out through bottom.

Reverse for install.

Good luck,

SOURCE: fuse blowing

I agree. I would start by inspecting from the tail lights wiring and move up. You will have to remove interior pannels to see the harness.

I have a 1985 fiero and had the same problem. Fiero do not have a speedometer cable the speed is sent from a governer on the tranz to the gauage. So in short the gauage needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: runs rich and miss fires

Make sure the spark plug wires are on right (propper firing order), and check the TPS sensor. Are there any exhaust leaks or vacuum leaks? Did you use the original intake manifolds and Holley throttle body? If not you need to replace the PROM chip with the one from the donor car.

SOURCE: tachometer on my 1986 fiero gt is out of

There's a good chance that the tachometer switch setting on the tachometer is broken. They use the same tach for different engine sizes and change the amount of cylinders with the switch. You might have to replace the tach

My 1986 Fiero GT has a severe drop in electrical power when the headlights are on, or the a/c on high, with both on and the radio the car misfires and the volt gauge goes to 9volts. I have replaced the alt...

The problem is not with the + (positive) side of things. The problem is you have bad grounds.
With the car running, grab a voltmeter and check the voltage at the battery terminals. If it is above 12 volts then the alternator is charging, but that is no guarantee that the voltage is getting where it is supposed to.
Fieros don't have solder joints. When the harness needs to have a wire break-out, they just used a metal crimp to electrically connect it to the circuit. They don't conduct well especially over time as they're two different metals in contact with each other flowing electricity.
Anyways, try finding ground wires that are disconnected and not giving the electricity the path it needs to the chassis. Even though the skin of your car is plastic & fiberglass, the skeleton is steel and conducts electricity.
I had to go through my '86 GT and add a dedicated ground just for the front compartment accessories, then I went through the harness and actually soldered my connections. Its nice being able to see at night!
