The fan that blows hot air/cold air all of a sudden wont turn on when you hit the switch..the 30 amp. Fuse is good. How do I rule out whether its the switch or the fan motor.

Check for voltage and ground at the fan connector, with hvac turned on. If good voltage and ground with no fan action, suspect the fan. Use a testlite. Did you check for voltage at the applicable fuse circuit? Even if the fuse is good, if no voltage, the circuit is still dead.

Turn off ur car before u work on replacing any fuses. Find the main fuse box by looking under the hood in the engine compartment.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our Regal's a/c fan was stuck turned on, even w/ the ignition turned off. Draining the battery to dead. My wife took it to a Buick dealer who's only solution at that time was to pull the fuse out. So...

the radiator fans use a fuse,relay,temperature sensor which the computer controls to turn on the fans at the specified temperature.you don`t say if this problem occurred when the blower motor fan fuse was removed.it is not uncommon for the rad cooling fans to seize and not work,the blower motor uses an electronic resistor block on the air box under the hood with i think about 6 wires in the plug and is about 3.5"long and 1"wide.held by 2 bolts(screws).this is feed power all the time and when the control switch is turned for different fan speeds the switch grounds the circuit.at times the resistor shorts causing the fan to run continually.i think you need a new resistor to fix this problem.

1989 cougar heater or ac wont blow air what could be the problem

Its either the fan switch is bad,,or a fuse,,or the fan motor its self is bad,I would check fuse 1st,,2nd unplug fan motor run a hotwire to it and see if it turns,,if it does than you know its the switch for the fan. If it dont turn with separate hot wire ,,than its the fan go bad.

1992 corvette - cooling fans do not actuate at temperature.

Do the fans come on when you turn on the air conditioner. I do believe the temp switch for the fan is on the passenger side of the engine above the starter.

1992caravan turn signals, low beams, and heater motor do notwork

A) Faulty turn signal switch or circuit.
B) Broken dimmer switch or poor electrical connection.Could be relay also.
C) Unplug the electrical connector at the motor and use fused jumper wires to connect the fan motor directly to the battery. If the fan still doesn't work replace the motor. If fan works could be your relay.

Blower Motor problem

Hi,

Sorry but most that I can give would be generic as Pontiac Grand Prix are not that common in my country. I am assuming you are referring to the fan/blowers of the A/C unit.

Based on your description and from what little I know of the circuitry/wiring of current blowers:
1. the clicking sound would be a relay engaging and therefore the speed selector switch could be assumed to be operational since it can trigger the relay;
2. the day time running lights and auto night lights turning off when engaging the fan switch indicates possibly a common supply problem. This could be a wire or terminal in the fuse block. This common B+12 supply logically would be split into several including the fan blower fuse and the lights fuse. It is also possible that said terminal is corroded or has scorched marks preventing full flow of current or be disconnected intermittently;
3. since you have changed the resistor (presumably known and tested to be good) then the problem lies elsewhere possibly back to #2 above;
4. I would discount any ignition problem as it would be more engine related and has nothing to do with the fan/blower except that it share a common IGN B+12 which again points back to possibly #2; and
5. Though am not sure, but I think your car has also a blower motor control processor which also could be at fault.

I believe your best option would be to use a DVM to check for the presence of B+ supply to the fan motor while going through the switch settings (1 to 5). Thereafter trace back until you reach the resistor and its input of +12, go further back and trace it to the fuse holder and eventually to the common supply. You would have three (3) B+12, a) always ON; b) IGN ON; and blower switch ON.

Would appreciate a post back for any developments or results of your voltage checks.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Again, pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
